How the Brain Develops During the First Year of Life
- Introduction
As we know that the brain in infant is being to develop or change when the child start to walks, talks, runs, and smiles. The infant began life as a single cell and in nine month the infant born with a brain and nervous system that about 100 billion nerve cells, or neurons. In addition at birth the infant has all of the neurons.
Some brain development facts:
- At birth, the newborn’s brain is about 25% of its adult weight.
- By the second birthday, the brain is about 75% of its adult weight.
- Before the child is born, all the nerve cells is being formed. In addition, the nerve cells are unconnected together.
- From the time the child is born, his brain continually strive to connect the wires.
- Every time the infant is held, or play with a toy the nerves make a connection
- During the beginning years of life the connection or wires are connecting at an amazing speed
- During the third and fourth month of year the wiring is developed a lot.
- Until about 8 months of age, many things the child can do with his own, for example:
- He looks seriously in any thing that attract him, so we can called him looker.
- He shows his curiosity in every thing that interest him, such as a toy, program show, and the clothes that his mother wear
