Tokyo

Well, Trist and I headed out to Tokyo for his last weekend in Japan. It was so sad that his trip was coming to an end! We had 5 days in Tokyo. I really don't like Tokyo because it's so big and takes FOREVER to get from one area to another. The train/subway system is nuts and I really don't care for all the people. That being said, we didn't do that much there. We stayed at Kimi Ryokan by Ikebukuro Train Station. It had a curfew of 1am - 7am. I kept calling it a hostel because it felt like one. But this place is recommended for its location and value. It has shared bathrooms and showers.

Well, of course, I wanted to check out Disneyland. It's funny, but it's EXACTLY like the one in California and Florida (minus Epcot). The castle is a bit different - smaller. But it's like being in California except everything is in Japanese! Oh, Trist and I were trying to be more Japanese - so we started taking pictures with the peace sign.

Disneyland where are the gift shops are. You would NOT BELIEVE the line-ups! People want to throw their money away at souvenirs!

The castle in the background and some random Disney Christmas display.

Me burning up the tracks with my incredibly fast and skilled driving!   We were gonna go and watch "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" 3D style.

Well, Disney took up one day. Then the next couple of days, we just bummed around town and looked around. I didn't find too much of interest to see there. I know there's lots of stuff there, but we just didn't feel like going around. We went to the national museum. I didn't take any pictures there. We also headed off to the Imperial Palace where the royal family still lives. Couldn't get really close to the palace at all.

Us in front of the Palace and me with the imperial garden in the background.

Takeshita Street. Very busy and crowded shopping street.

Tokyo punks - actually, they're just highschool or junior high students "dressed up". It's some kind of fashion statement. The girls look like they're wearing black Little Bo Peep outfits. Couldn't pay me enough to wear it!

We're at Sensoji Shrine. I'm shaking the sticks until one falls out. The stick has a number attached to it. I go to that drawer and pull out my fortune. I cannot remember what my fortune was. It was so badly translated! Trist and I were laughing so hard! (This past paragraph is a perfect example of my deteriorating English. Very short sentences that almost don't make sense.

And of course, there's LOTS of neon in Tokyo1 This was taken in the Shinjuku area! Lots of people, bars, eateries and tons of neon!

The building with the golden "thing" on it is the Asahi building (Asahi is one of the beer companies here). The gold thing is supposed to be the foam off the beer. The "No Pets" sign was kinda funny! Both found in the Asukusa area of Tokyo.

This picture turned out pretty well. It was taken before we parted ways. Trist to Narita airport and me back to Kanazawa.
