PILOT: GHOSTS OF THE CONFEDERACY
*When a group of drunks attempt to hang Nathan Jackson, Chris Larabee and Vin Tanner unite to save him. Having seen this, the leaders of a local tribe offer them 35 dollars to defend their village from a group of Confederate soldiers still acting as if the war was on. After Vin makes a comment about earning 5 dollars a week at the general store without someone shooting at him, Chris does the math and figures 5 dollars gets them "all of seven men." They find Chris's old friend Buck in the middle of a romp with a local woman, Josiah Sanchez rebuilding a church, and Ezra Standish pulling a con. JD Dunne finds them, but the young rookie gets laughed at and dismissed. The Six head for the village, but JD follows. After a brief scuffle, JD is allowed to stay and the seven are complete. The battle begins, and our heroes (of course) reign victorious.

ONE DAY OUT WEST
*Judge Travis, Mary's father in law, arrives in town. A Cattle rancher tries to get rid of the seven men, who are a kind of law in the town. Ezra is arrested, as are several others. When an attempt is made to kill Judge Travis, the fight is on.

WORKING GIRLS
*When Buck, JD, and Chris help out Nora, an abused prostitute at Wickstown, a local tent city of sin for the farmers, they get more then they bargained for as Nora's fellow prostitutes arrive in town, asking for their help in escaping from Wicks, their not-so-nice employer. Mary tries to convince Chris to get the women out of town, still on her quest to clear the town of "the bad element." Lydia, the seeming leader of the "working girls" has her eye on Chris. Ezra concocts a scheme to sell the ladies off as mail-order Brides, evoking some strong words from Nathan. JD's "first time" never really happens, but thanks to some help from Emily, one of the girls, no one else knows that.

SAFECRACKER
*Buck and Nathan are sent to escort a released Yuma prisoner to Mary. The prisoner in question happens to be the beautiful Terry Greer, and her rough and tumble 6 year old daughter Olivia. While Buck and the boys are babysitting (with no lack of complaining about it), Terry's old partner Morgan Hill is in town seeking to reunite with her and rob the bank. Terry, now reformed, refuses. Once Morgan and his gang get Buck and take him along, then kidnap Olivia, Terry has no choice. Chris and Buck's long past together comes out in a remarkable scene where they play out Chris shooting Buck down in the middle of the Purgatorio street, then Chris joins Hill's gang to rob the bank. A shootout in town ensues, Olivia is saved and reunited with her mother. Terry and Olivia head to Bitter Creek to begin their new life.

WITNESS
*The arrival of Billy Travis, Mary's son, and Maude Standish, Ezra's mother, turns the town upside down. As Maude is busy entertaining Josiah and the rest of the seven, Ezra find himself torn between his loyalty to his conartist mother and his new life. Billy is haunted by nightmares and memories of his fathers murder, which he was the only witness too. When the murderers warn him to shut up or they'll kill Mary, Billy runs away. The seven set about flushing out the murderers, who turn out to be the bank owner and hotel owner. Billy forms a deep attachment to Chris, and comes out of his shell at the perfect moment to point the finger (literally) at the man who killed his father. Maude and Ezra reconcile and she leaves town (for a while:)

NEMESIS
*Before he is to be hanged, a criminal (Blackfox) reveals information he think may get him pardoned: he was a witness to the Larabee murders. Chris and the gang escort him to the crime scene, and he tells them what he knows. The man follow his leads to Eagle Bend, then Purgatory. All the while, they are trailed by a writer from the east who wants to make them famous and make a buck. But all the while, are the Seven being trailed by the man who killed Chris's family?

THE COLLECTOR
*Nettie and Casey Wells's ranch is ramshackled by a group of men who apparently have something against Chris, though for the life of him he can't remember what it is. Casey, a pretty tomboy, has a crush on JD which Buck tries to help along ~ with disasterous results. Josiah's one true love, Emma DuBonais, arrives in town with her cabaret show "Getting Gerties Garter" and reveals the person she has turned out to be. We learn a little about Vin's past from his soft spot for Nettie, who reminds him of his mother.

MANHUNT
*Vin and the boys go on a search and rescue to find Claire Moseley, daughter of the Rev. Owen Moseley. Claire has been abducted by Chanu, the son of the chief of a local Indian tribe. Vin and Buck manage to bring Claire back to town and capture Chanu, but he escapes (nearly killing Vin) and abducts Claire again. Josiah goes to the village to talk to the chief, which becomes more than be bargained for. When Claire is found murdered, a lynching party heads for the village. Luckily, Vin brings Chanu back in time, with the truth about who really killed Claire Moseley.

INMATE 78
*Chris tries to get involved in the arrest of an innocent man, and finds himself thrown into hard labor type a prison. The rest of the group goes looking for him when he doesnt return to town, and their search becomes an episode in itself. Seems the sherriff likes to arrest people he thinks have money and then make their families pay bail. JD thinks he has a funny joke, which he doesn't, but that doesnt stop him from trying it on everyone.
