“I can’t believe you!” She shouted in a whisper. Her hair fell across her face as she looked to the floor that was holding her up. Blood trickled down her cheek from the spot he had ripped the skin off. But something in her lurched and she coughed loudly. Her body started to shake as she sat on the floor, the spot she had fallen to when he had struck her with such great force. “Are you ok baby?” He asked, as if it would ever help the situation. She clutched her stomach as blood found its way to her lips. Her pleading eyes looked up to his and she began to furiously cry upon the glance of his face. He was starting to tear up when he reached for his cell phone to call an ambulance.
It had never come to this, such anger and such violence. Yes, he has hit her before, but not like this. He never made her bleed or have jerks like she was have now. He sat down onto the plush carpet with her and put her head in his lap so he could watch her face look at him. He would brush her hair behind her ears, scared of losing her over his anger problems. No one ever knew of the problems they had, the media seemed to feed off of the other guys more than him. He was the bass in the group, but he wasn’t always in the limelight.
He held her hands in his and she clutched his soft ones tightly. Her wedding ring stood out from her slender fingers like it always had. But now it was tainted with bruises, tears, and most of all blood, which was her own. The sirens roared down the dimly lit street that was covered with suburban houses. The siren cut off as the paramedics rushed into one of the richer houses of them all. It was all a rush of fury as the two men pushed her husband away and carried her to the awaiting stretcher.
The fight unfolded through a summary of a few words to the emergency men. They looked horrified as the blood kept falling out of her mouth like words that were visible. “Why did it have to happen tonight?” Was all that was running through his head. “Why did it have to happen at all?”
His head hung and felt like exploding as the tears fell from hearing the news of his once love that was now going to have to be put under the beautiful earth, just because of one night of fury that he could have changed so easily. The fault and blame was wearing on him and he knew it would never leave him alone, it would only eat at him like coyotes on new meat. He loved her, but the anger was much more evident than love could have ever been.
