WHERE ELSE?

WHERE ELSE?

Where else? This question came to mind.

I sat where I could see.

Observe first hand the building of

This kingdom hall to be.

And as I watch, a patter was

Emerging into view

And I could only ask, Where else?

Could such a thing be true.

The working crew were men and woman

Children young and old

Neatly dressed in work clothes

Though foggy skies were cold.

A constant hammer, hammer....

The buzzing of a saw

A painting crew with brush and spray....

New lumber, white and raw.

These things are found on every job,

Occurring every day

And you might rightly wonder why,

Where else? Is what I say?

Well, I'll tell you:

The smiles on their faces,

And the laughter in their voice,

The genuine enjoyment

Making everyone rejoice.

The patience constantly expresses

Each worker keeps ensuing

Unique because quite other they

Don't know what they are doing!

I overheard a question asked:

(She really wasn't goofing)

"Why are they putting shingles on

Before they put the roofing?"

Co-ordinate! Co-operate!

Just words without meaning?

Not hear! Where else do ones unite

With happy faces beaming?

No matter what the needed task

No matter who should will it

No matter if they're tired or not

There's two or three to fill it.

No matter what the workers skill

Nor the hours spent in schooling

The time has all been volunteered

They're working free! No fooling!

How nice! Where else could there be found

Employers such as ours?

He who fulfils our every need

Our energy empowers!

Well, after seeing all I could

From sitting on this chair,

I thought I'd wonder on inside

To see the work in there.

Where else? There must be seven different

Types of work at once.

No one in the others' way,

To make him feel the dunce!

Men on stilts seem ten feet tall

Some others sweep the floors,

While sanding, staining, polishing,

Were finishing the doors.

Another comment overheard,

"How nice it is to say

That all the young would rather help

Than use their time for play?"

I saw electric fixtures with

A hundred miles of wire...

Others with Formica making

Tops we can admire.

Another helpful service was

Performed without distraught;

Shuttle service all day long

To and from the parking lot.

Some qualities displayed right here

Are love and patience, true,

But acts of true humility

Are Godly products, too.

And I saw our Brother Hamburg

From the regional committee

Pushing dirt before a broom

And looking kind of pretty.

And as I walked around I gathered

News that I appreciate;

Many workers here have traveled

From their homes across the state.

They gave up their comfort

Coming at their own expense

Lovingly they give their all

With hearts that are immense

Our meals....Ummmm, delicious!

Abundant in supply

Where else in the entire world

Do people really try?

Seated now I sat observing

With Creation all around

And I knew, Where else? Was no where

No Where else could this be found!

And except by Holy Spirit

And the gift Jehovah gives,

There's no where else, there is no where

That true love really lives
