"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" issues #1-24 (entire run, 1977-1979)

History: A giant monster that was terrorizing Japan for years, and for reasons unknown it came to North America in the late 1970’s. The militant defensive organization known as S.H.E.I.D. made numerous attempts to stop the creature, as well as a number of "super-heroes". Although this monster is considered by most to be an enemy of mankind, he has actually "saved the world" on a number of occasions, especially when it comes to battling other giant monsters. Rather he is friend or foe, this Godzilla has left a large impact on the country for those couple of years before returning to the sea.

Fighting Power: *****

The writers at Marvel made an interesting take on Godzilla, but in most ways it’s still Godzilla, and one thing Godzilla is good at is fighting. Using his sheer strength and his powerful fire stream, Godzilla can defeat just about any monster approaching his size. He’s also had success in defending himself from just about everything else, and for the most part remains as an unstoppable beast. He does get a little "confused" about new situations, but in the end he figures out what is going on and does what is needed to continue to survive.

Mutant Godzilla (Marvel)

AKA: Godzilla Mutation, Dr. Demonicus’s "greatest enemy"
