The day the house died

Metropolitan Living Homes has been updated and now tells us how a Martin Swinton house has got sick and finally died. The house was called 'Cahir', and for no obvious reason came down with 'Mad House Syndrome'. Of course, nothing is obvious here, so I guess I need to try and figure why it could happen: does an AI house need love to keep it alive? Can it just let itself waste away? Or does it mean there was a fault (intentional or otherwise) in its programming? Or did someone get in from the outside to mess with it? I'll leave that speculation up to you and get back to the detective work.
