John Carpenter was done with Michael Myers, but Moustapha Akkad wasn't. Without the help of Carpenter, Akkad set out to make Halloween 4. Ten years after the release of the original, Halloween 4 was made, not only Carpenter-less, but Curtis-less. Fortunately, Pleasence was around for this one.

October 30, 1988, Myers is to be brought from the Ridgemont Maximum Security Hospital back to Smiths Grove. On the way, he awakens from his ten year coma, and attacks the people in the ambulance. Without a driver, the ambulance crashes. Michael's body is not found.

Back in Haddonfield, we meet Laurie's daughter, Jamie (Danielle Harris). She was adopted by the Corruthers family, after her parents were killed in a car crash. Her step sister, Rachel (Ellie Cornell), is upset that she has to miss her Halloween date, to babysit Jamie.

Back at the crash site, we rejoin Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence), who survived the explosion in HalloweeN II, but is badly scarred. He knows Myers survived, and he heads for Haddonfield. On the way, he encounters Myers at a gas station. Once again, Loomis is compelled to blow shit up. Loomis and Myers both survive another explosion *yawn*.

Myers makes his way to Haddonfield, and steals a mask. Meanwhile, at the same store, Jamie and Rachel are searching for the perfect costume for Jamie. Rachel promises to take Jamie out trick-or-treating.

While trick-or-trating, Jamie leaves Rachel, and runs off. Meanwhile, Loomis informs the new Sheriff, Ben Meeker (Beau Starr), that Myers is loose. Rachel finds Jamie at the Sheriff's home, where they meet up with the Sheriff and Loomis! Once they see Myers, the board themselves up inside. Will Myers' bodycount equal that of ten tears prior? Ten years ago, HE changed the face of Halloween. Tonight, HE'S BACK!

The Boogeyman's Review

HalloweeN 4 is a very good sequel, for one without John Carpenter. It was a strong return for Myers, and any HalloweeN fan will respect it.
