Adam Garcia
Adam Gabriel Garcia was born on June 1, 1973, in Wahroonga, New South Wales, Australia, where he was trained at the Capital Dance Studios in Sydney. Adam followed the path into the arts (which appealed to him more than several years within the confining walls of university). He landed a role in the Australian production of Hot Shoe Shuffle, which, when brought to the West End, marked his London stage debut which lead to several London stage productions including the character of ‘Doody’ (one of the famous T-Birds) in Grease.
He got his start in Broadway productions and made a name for himself in the theatre production of Saturday Night Fever where he won accolades from audiences and critics alike fo his role as Tony Manero in London’s West End production of the play. The world premiere stage production was a smash hit (sold out for virtually it’s entire run featuring Adam) and rapidly propelled him into the forefront of casting establishments around the world.
Although, his claim to fame is his own two feet and his voice, Adam was picked on for being a dancer as a boy in Australia - but he thinks he's more macho than all his friends put together. Adam admits he was the butt of many cruel jokes while growing up. "Everyone thought it was kind of cool. Chicks liked it. I got a little bit of hassle. At one point I went to an all boys school and they'd say, 'You're a dancer right?' I'd be like, 'right'. They'd make these accusations of homosexuality. And I'd say, 'You're the ones getting sweaty, hugging each other playing rugby, and showering together'. And I dance with a roomful of 60 girls in leotards. Let's work out the math, shall we." But he managed to have the last laugh as we all know today.
On his resume: Along with his long list of stage productions, Adam recently starred in the indie flick Bootmen along with the 1997 film Wilde. His latest film was Riding In Cars With Boys (2001) alongside Drew Barrymore,.
