Mark Richard Hamill was born on September 25,1951 in Oakland,California,USA. He is the son of William and Suzanne Hamill and the sibling of Terry,Jan,Jeanie,William Jr.,Kim,and Patrick. Mark's father was a U.S. Naval Captain,so he moved from place to place often. He grew up in Virginia,California,Japan,and New York. After graduating from Yokohama High School in Japan,Mark moved back to California where he entered Los Angeles City Collage as a theatre arts major. While still in school,he landed a role on The Bill Cosby Show and then General Hospital. He did a few other movies before landing the star-making part of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars (1977),The Empire Strikes Back (1980),and Return of the Jedi (1983). A year after the making of Star Wars (1978),but before the first screening,Mark married Marilou York. The are now the parents of Nathan (1979),Griffin (1983),and Chelsea (1989).
Mark went to act in a number of theatre performances such as Amadeus ( I heard he did really well in that one),Elephant Man,and Mark's personal favorite,Harrigan 'n Hart which earned him a Drama Desk nomination for "Best Actor in a Musical". Even though Mark is mainly in films and T.V. now,he says he misses the live audience.
As I said,Mark has been in mainly T.V. shows and films lately. He can be heard as the voice of The Joker on The Adventures of Batman and Robin,the Gargoyle on The Incredible Hulk,the voice of Commander Blair on Wing Commander Academy,and also had a part (of which,I don't know) on B.R.U.N.O. the Kid.
Mark has also been working on the CD-ROM games,Wing Commander,as Commmander Blair. These CD-ROM games are Sci-Fi interactive movies in which Mark plays the main role in.
Mark has been doing work in T.V. as well,recently he had roles in Space Cases,The Outer Limits,Saturday Night Live,MadTV,and 3rd Rock from the Sun,where he plays himself. He is also the host of .com,and can be heard as the host of Hunt for Amazing Treasures.
Recently Mark Hamill's comic book The Black Pearl has been exciting for Mark and his co-writer and cousin Eric Johnson. The Black Pearl is also a graphic novel that has just been turned into a screen play!
Also, Mark starred in the movie Hamilton,which is based on the Swedish novels, The Only Victory and No Man's Land. It co-starred Lena Olin and Peter Stormare. It was sceduled to be a European release only.
There is also apparently some movie called Walking Across Egypt coming out sometime this year, which will also star Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
