"Gladiator" begins in Germania in a battle between the Romans and the Barbarians. Maximus (Russell Crowe), the Roman General, led his men in the frantic, bloody, well choreographed, and wonderfully shot battle scene. Rome's Emperor, Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), has one more favor to ask of Maximus before he can go home to his wife and son. However, the wishes of an old emperor was not enough to please his son, Commodus(Joaquin Phoenix).
