About the Other Movie Log: These are the jottings of a longtime movie addict. I set up the first Movie Log in early 1999 to cover a broad range of topics related to questions of film art, with attention to both contributions of American and world cinema. My hope is to use the Other Movie Log for News and Reviews of recent movies, of video and DVD releases, as well as for somewhat longer Articles dealing with the work of individual directors, with movie genres, with movie history and questions of motion picture aesthetics and film theory, including excerpts from two books on American cinema in the 1930's and 1940's. Previously posted Reviews and Articles from the Movie Log will be available here in newly edited versions.
About Dave C: I received a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California at San Diego in 1972, with a dissertation on the theory of the novel. Currently I maintain my Web site and work as adjunct faculty for Chapman University and the University of La Verne in San Diego, California, where I reside. In my spare time I am an occasional runner and cyclist.
