Read Critics' Reviews of Disney Movies!

I probably wouldn't be including negative reviews of Disney movies on this page anyway, but have you noticed how there's never a bad review of a Disney movie? The worst they get graded is average. At least, I've never come across a bad one.

These reviews are taken from magazines or newspapers without permission and are here simply for your entertainment, and so you can bask in the wonder that is a critic who gives a good review to a Disney movie.

101 DALMATIANS, animated

"[101 Dalmatians] had a contemporary setting, swinging London, and a jazzy soundtrack. It also has a great villain, the highcamp Cruella De Vil, kidnapper of dalmatian puppies and all-round bad girl... More than 30 years later, it's still an entertaining experience."

"4 stars ... This super-cute story is yet another Disney winner... the film stands as a little piece of magic that's guaranteed to cheer you up."

THE LION KING

"Magnificent music and brilliant animation make The Lion King an evergreen classic. You'll be transported to a truly magical land with all the breathtaking beauty, spiritual rhythms, vibrant colours of Africa." And ... "Of all the incredible movies released in 1994, none can match the magnificence of THE LION KING - Disney's 32nd animated feature stands as a breath-taking, funny, and heart-warming tale. Other top movies include the Nightmare Before Christmas for its dark humour and inventiveness." (Though some people refuse to believe it, "Nightmare" IS actually a Disney movie!)

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

"A Delightful and exciting tale, the Hunchback of Notre Dame is a wonderful movie with a very special message for viewers of all ages. Quite simply, you must not miss it!" And ... "4 and a half stars. This is a stunning movie, one of the best modern-day animations Walt Disney has ever produced. It's not excessively sentimental, like so many of the early films, neither is it over-dark or over-earnest. Instead, it's a very well-told tale of hopes and dreams, with beautiful animation, the kind of characters you can't fail to take with you and some great tunes ... it's equal to Disney's best in every way."

"Overflowing with action, colour and great songs, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a must-have for any video collection."

SLEEPING BEAUTY

"A wonderful film in the classic tradition from Walt Disney, the master of animation. With a stunning medieval setting and extraordinary music ... the classic fairytale is transformed into a spectacular adventure of suspense, romance and fantasy."

MULAN

"Those wizards at Disney have done it again, whipping up another spectacular that'll entertain kids young and not-so-young ... with a timeless tale of love, honour, filial duty, courage and heroism, it sets a style of its own. It is easily the most "adult" Disney effort of late, evoking emotion without cheesy sentiment and exploring layers of meaning rare enough in live-action films, let alone cartoons."

"Mulan was a five-year undertaking which will reaffirm your belief that Disney really is a magical kingdom. Mulan brings back a part of Disney's soul. Its srength of character, voice, and even song, this time around make a bona fide classic."

"Great songs, a soaring epic vision that manages to blend computer and traditional animation to super effect, and a loveable cast of characters."

LADY AND THE TRAMP

"The Hollywood classic Lady and the Tramp is making a long-awaited return to the big screen. Based on a story by Ward Greene and made in 1955, Lady and the Tramp has lost none of its magic. It is great family entertainment."

THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE

"The arresting tale of Disney's animated masterpiece unfolds when a popular toymaker is kidnapped. The clues lead Basil and his trusty assistant Dr Dawson on a thrilling adventure around London and ends in a spectacular chase inside the Big Ben."

TARZAN

"It has breathtaking jungle action, heaps of humour, excellent music and some mega-emotional scenes (take tissues!). Not only is the story and the music a classic, but also the characters' voices are sensational."

"4 stars ... Disney's animated version of the jungle hero swings high."

"Disney's animators and writers have revitalised Edgar Rice Burroughs' tale of the ape man in a tale bound to enthrall."

"A colourful triumph of the animator's art to thrill a new generation. Disney's skilled team return to the artistic high of the Lion King."

"A spectacular technical feast. Fantasy assumes reality."

"This is a terrific animated feature for the whole family. There's excitement and adventure at every turn - and just a touch of romance. A simple, pacey story and, like all the Disney animations, the voices are spot on."

TOY STORY

"It's the most amazing animated film you'll ever see! Do not miss it! 5 stars."

TOY STORY 2

"Buzz Lightyear, Woody and a colourful cast of toys are joined by a delightful group of new characters for an incredible action-filled comedy-adventure that is loaded with laughs, emotion and surprises."

"5 stars. It was a hard act to follow, but the computer-animated sequel to the original Toy Story proves even more entertaining. The team bring the sort of reality you'd expect from human actors to their cartoon which surely will be considered a classic of its kind, as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was to audiences almost 60 years ago. It's almost impossible to recall a film that keeps a smile on your face as continuously as this inspired, heart-warming and brilliantly funny movie does. There's surprising depth to this storyline, too. Don't let the kids have all the enjoyment that's created by this instant Pixar classic."

"A sequel to the wonderful Toy Story that's just as delightful and clever as the first. The animation is awesome. Colourful and fast-paced for the kids, with in-jokes for the adults, this movie is a sure-fire holiday hit. It's not often you can say a sequel to a smash-hit is just as good, but here you can. The attention to detail is dazzling - from the hilarious script right up to the technical brilliance of the computer animation. 5 stars."

FAN REVIEW: THE TIGGER MOVIE

The people at Disney has made another "children's movie" that adults will enjoy. "The Tigger Movie" is warm, funny, and entertaining. This is one of the few movies I have seen in a long time that I left the theater with a big smile, glad I saw it in a theater, and thinking, "That is a GOOD movie!"

The artwork is beautiful as it is in most Disney movies. The details on the characters is phenomenal, especially Eeyore. The expressions on his face could speak volumes. The songs are good, well written, near infectious tunes. It is hard not to hum along with Pooh's "Bee Lullaby."

It was nice to see a movie with out violence, cursing, sexual innuendoes, that did not make a statement, or insult your intelligence. Just go, sit back, relax, forget the world, enjoy yourself, and have fun. TTFN.

Thanks Robert!
