I've loved "The Sorceror's Apprentice" since I was eight and saw it at school on 'Animation Afternoon', and that's why it gets its own page.
"The Sorceror's Apprentice" is a segment of "Fantasia" (released in 1940) which also became the only one to be re-used for "Fantasia/2000". There's no speaking, just music, but it's obvious that this tells the tale of an ambitious young apprentice sorceror - one Mickey Mouse - who tries a bit of magic to make his chores easier and finds a whole lot of trouble.
Darn those insane brooms!
There's a spectacular dream sequence, where Mickey imagines he's an all-powerful sorceror, but wakes up to find himself in a flooded room.
In the end it takes the Sorceror, Yensid (read it backwards) to come and reverse the spell, saving the day and making Mickey decide that maybe magic can wait until he's a little more experienced.
