Macintosh

I've owned a Macintosh computer, a SE, since 1988. I liked the design from the very beginning but until the MacPLUS they were like "premies", just not viable for real life. But with the introduction of the SE, and bigger brother II, I was sold.

Regardless of what you think of it as a platform, the Mac has made a unique impact on the world and history of personal computers. Here is my list of Mac sightings.

Movies

"Air Bud" ('97)

"Assasins" ('95)
Stalone and Banderas use PowerBooks. The female lead uses a minitower Mac in the basement security room.
"Batman and Robin" ('97)
Lots of Macs and an e-mate.
"Bird on a Wire" ('90)
A Mac II (or smilar) on the desk of Gibson's "handler".
"Blade" ('98)
PowerBooks. Interestingly the logo on one PB is reversed on the lid to show correctly when opened.
"Blank Check" ('94)
Brian Bonsall uses a Mac to forge checks. He says that he gets his checks from "Mr. Macintosh".
"Creepshow" ('?)
The guy with the cockroach infested apartment had a disguised Apple ][+.
"Crimnal Behavior" ('92)
Farrah Fawcet uses a Mac Classic.
"Demolitionist, The" ('96)
There is a Mac Classic in the surveilance van. "Favor, The" ('?) Bill Pullman plays the harmonica while working on a compact Mac.
"Fear Stalk" ('89)
Jill Clayburgh uses a Mac II.
"Firm, The" ('93)
Tom Cruise and his office all use Macs.
"Flubber" ('97)
Dr. Brainerd (Robin Williams) has a Mac Plus or Classic on his kitchen counter.
"Forest Gump" ('94)

Many PowerBooks, even though the dialog refers to Pentiums!

Sela Ward, Morgan Fairchild There is a prominant Mac Plus/Classic on her home office desk.

Jeff Goldbloom uses a PowerBook. Others were IIci, IIfx and Quadras.

Jane (Debra Winger) uses a Mac laptop on the bus in the first scene.

The teacher had a Mac Portable on her desk.

Tom Cruise and the team used PowerBooks
"Net, The" ('95)
Sandra Bullock uses a PowerBook. Also powermacs, mostly 8100s. The final chase scene is at the San Francisco MacWorld.

There is a MacII in the campaign headquarters and a brief glimps of an Apple mousepad.
"Ransom" ('96)
Gibson, the FBi and the kidnapper used a PowerBook.
"Sanctuary" ('00TV)
Melissa Gilbert's character uses a powerbook.
"Saint, The" ('97)
Val Kilmer uses a PowerBook.
"Search for Grace" ('94)
Lisa Hartman Black has a Mac Plus in her home.

A Quadra or PowerMac on the desk of the programmer in the first scene.

Eric Roberts has an AV monitor on his desk.

In Crosby's lab in the beginning, a wire-fram graphic is superimposed onto a blank 512k screen.

The fully automated house has an iMac.

James Doohan (Scotty) uses a Mac Plus, saying "Computer, hello computer" to the mouse.

Nancy Travis uses a Performa or LC to read the kidnapper's files.

Hank Parnell (Michael Ontkean) uses a compact Mac (seen from its back) at his desk.

The Pilot - John Corbett uses the boy's Mac.
"Wag the Dog" ('97)

Discussing computer dating a friend says, "you can't walk down the isle with an IMac".

Willow uses a PowerBook.

Mimi has an iMac on her desk.
Drew has a disguised cube on his desk, but the gray Apple logo on the front is just a gray circle.

The first season featured a lot of Mac screen shots. Later episodes show a screen of a mixture of OS types.

Cybil Shepard had a Classic behind her desk in the office.

"Night Court"
The judge, Harry Anderson, always had a Mac in his office, usually a laptop.
"The Pretender"
Sydney uses a 20th Anniversary.
"Remington Steele"
Zimbalist used Macs in her office.

Imac in Max's room
"Saved by the Bell"
A Mac compact in the college dorm room.
"Seinfeld"
Jerry had a Classic, Duo with dock and 20th Anniversary.
"Sex in the City"
Carrie (a newspaper writer) uses a Powerbook.

Many Macs, including a Lisa. And a Newton with less than perfect handwriting recognition.

Sam Seaborn uses an undisguised Powerbook.

There's an iMac in the office.

Matt Pyser has a Mac in his apartment in the episode with the environmentalist and her bird.

Scully uses many PowerBooks.

(Jan 1984) The famous "1984"-takeoff introduction of the Macintosh ran only once during halftime of the Superbowl.

The commercial where animals and all other things fine, like Mozart works, grand pianos, and Mercedes E-Class autos line up two-by-two to enter Noah's ark. Included in the line are two iMacs.

Commercial about Walgreens photo to disk service shows a young boy at a Mac tower system.

06/27/99 Chip and his friends launch their band's website on his blueberry iMac.
(12/24/99) On Christmas Eve, the first panel reads, "T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house ..." , " I can't find the mouse!", says Hi in the second panel while trying to set up his new Imac.
