Chapter Nineteen

Rose got up from bed, and felt odd. She didn't feel the same as usual, and her back hurt very much. It was a Friday, and Jack was already at work. There was a note by her bedside, and she read it.

Rose, you looked so peaceful I decided to just kiss you, and leave you with this note. I love you and I'll be home around four. Love, Jack

Rose smiled, and placed the note on her nightstand. Even though the note made her happy, it didn't make her symptoms go away. Rose decided to take a nice bath, and then get dressed. Rose spent forty-five minutes in the tub, and then decided to get dressed. Rose put on her red dress, and went carefully downstairs. There was a knock on the door as Rose passed by, and practically scared her to death. Rose opened it to find Anna in her 'delicate condition'.

"Anna, hello."

"How are you?"

"Not so good. I think I might need to have the doctor come over."

"Is it time?" Anna asked with concern.

"Yes, I think it is." Rose placed her hand over her stomach. "Anna, do me a favor, and go get Camilla." Anna walked out of the house, and Rose lay down on the couch.

Camilla and Anna came in and went where Rose was. "Rose, is it time?"

"Yes, can you do me a favor and get Jack? He's at work."

"Honey, don't you want your doctor first?"

"No, I want Jack. Please, go get him."

"All right." Camilla smiled and walked out, with Anna sitting beside Rose holding her hand. Rose held on tight to her hand and squeezed it as she breathed heavily.

A few moments later, Jack came running in the door. "Rose?"

"Over here, Jack." Jack bent over the couch and kissed Rose. "Jack, hold my hand, please." Jack did and Anna moved so he could sit next to her. "Never let go of it, Jack."

Rose had tears down her eyes; the pain was so excruciating for her.

Suddenly, the doctor came in. "Rose, let's move you upstairs, all right?" The doctor then motioned upstairs.

Jack carried the pregnant Rose up the stairs, and placed her on the bed. Rose got up and put on her nightgown.

"All right, Rose. Are you ready?" Rose nodded her head as she answered her doctor's question. "All right, on the count of three, we're going to push."

"Come on, Rose. We can do this." Jack held Rose's hand.

"One...two...three...push." Rose started to push, and in a few moments...

"It's a boy!"

Rose smiled, and so did Jack. Rose smiled as the doctor handed her their new son, Maxwell Kevin Dawson.

"Hey, Max." Rose smiled as she held him.

Little Max held onto his father's finger with his hand. He began to cry, and Rose started to feed him.

"He's beautiful, Rose. Just like you."

Rose smiled. "I can see you in him, too." Jack smiled, and he kissed his son's hand.
