Chapter Twenty-Five

It was the nineteenth of April, and this meant the anniversary of Jack and Rose's marriage. Yet, Rose really didn't love what they were doing today. It was sad news to both Rose and Jack that Mr. Wrigley died of a heart attack. Mr. Wrigley left Jack the shop, and he knew exactly what he was going to do with it. Turn it into a gallery, but a couple days ago when Jack was putting up some drawings a man came in and noticed them. He said that he would buy his paintings only if he would come to Paris with him for the opening of Jack's new paintings. Jack agreed, but only if his wife could come with him. The two shook hands, and in a while Jack went home to tell Rose the good news. Rose was shaky about going on a boat, but she loved Paris, and didn't want to spend her anniversary at home.

Before they knew it, Jack and Rose were packing their bags. They took Max to Grandma and Grandpa's. Max seemed very happy as he flung himself into Ruth's arms, and Jonathan's.

"Mommy and Daddy love you. Now you be a good boy for Grandma Ruth and Grandpa John, all right?"

"Okay, Mommy."

Jack hugged and kissed his son. Jack and Rose headed to the train, which would take them to where they would be getting on the ship.

Jack and Rose approached the ship and Rose looked over at Jack.

"Well, it certainly isn't as big as the Titanic."

"You're right about that. I'm kind of glad about it. I almost got lost on that one."

Rose laughed, and held Jack's hand as they entered. Rose was nine months pregnant, and her child could be due any day. Jack and Rose both knew that, and Dr. Mackenzie was a little leery about Rose going on the ship.

But Rose just said to her, "If I have to have the baby in Paris, I will. If I have to have the baby on the ship, I will."

Jack and Rose entered their room, which was a first class cabin, but not as big as her B-52 on Titanic. She was a little glad that it didn't have so much room. Jack wrapped his arms around Rose, and she smiled.

"I think that we should go to the dining salon for dinner. Just for fun, get a table of our own. Order as much food as we can handle, and the go downstairs in third class and dance until our feet get sore."

Jack chuckled. "Rose, you always are so full of spirit. Now, aren't you?"

Rose just shrugged her shoulders. "For old times sake."

Jack had to smile on Rose's sense of adventure, especially when she was so close to having the baby.

"Well, how about we skip the dancing? You should be careful with that kid in there." Rose smiled. "I suppose you're right. I have gotten a little over my head now, haven't I?"

"No."

Rose smiled. "Come on. Let's go and get ready for dinner."

Rose went over to her suitcase, and found a dark maroon colored dress in the style of the one she wore when Jack saved her life on the back of the ship. Rose stepped out of the bathroom with her hair up and her shoes on, ready to go. Jack was in a tuxedo and was waiting for Rose in the main room. Rose opened the door, and just glowed with her big belly, and her fiery red hair.

"Wow," Jack said in a whisper.

Rose chuckled. "Is it too much?"

"No." Jack smiled.

Rose smiled back, and said, "Ready?"

"Yeah."

Jack opened the door, and Rose walked through. The two entered the dining salon and found a small table to sit at.

"Well, bonjour!" A voice very familiar came from beside the table.

"Molly, it's great to see you," Jack said with a smile.

"Can I join you two?"

"Sure," the two said in unison.

"Well, how have you two been? What brings you here on this ship anyway?"

"Well, Molly, we have been doing fine. We are going to Paris because Jack has to be there for the opening of his paintings at an art gallery. Why are you here?"

"Vacation. I had to get out of hot Montana. Say, is that your stomach I see, Rose?" Rose and Jack laughed. "Yes. I'm pregnant."

"Well, congratulations Rose, Jack. Is this your first?"

"No, it's our second. Our first is at home with Grandma and Grandpa."

Molly stopped for a second and grew a perplexed look on her face. "Wait a second. You're not talking about Ruth now, are you?"

Rose nodded her head.

"Well, then who is the Grandpa?"

"A local bakery owner named Jonathan Brinkley. They were married in December."

"Hmm, Ruth Brinkley. That has a good ring to it. Now tell me, Rose, how'd she find you?"

"She heard about Jack from a woman, and found out where we lived."

"Did you two get into a fight?"

"No, not really. She's changed very much."

Molly nodded her head. "That's good. Hey now, isn't today your anniversary?"

They nodded their heads.

"Well now, why didn't you say so? I'll leave you two alone. I'll catch you two later."

"Bye."

"Bye."
