Making a Wire Rig

Do you want to achieve a shot where a kung fu guy does a flying kick.? Then you'll need to construct some type of zip line and possibly use green screen etc. Of course, there are alternatives to the zip line idea like putting the actor on a dolly and using use green screen, then putting him into the frame in the air but that may not look all that great.

For the zip line, you could possibly use an old garage door opener bar. The ones that the chain goes in to pull the door. Just rig up something to get the wire to go into it. My advice would be to look around for rock climbing, caving, and gymnastic places in your area, like REI. All 3 of these sports involve ropes/wires of some kind. If you have a wire removal program, just shoot this live and edit them out later. You can always rotoscope each frame and paint over the wires, like they did for the hoverboards in Back to the Future 2. If you don't want to paint this frame by frame, or you don't have a wire removal program, then make sure that you cover the wire in green/blue tape, so that they will blend in with the chromakey background. Have fun!
