Mermaid Forest

 
According to legend, the eating of mermaid flesh endows man with immortality, an eternity of life which quickly becomes a lonely hell. Back in the sixteenth century, Yuta was cursed with this endless existence and for hundreds of solitary years he has been searching for a kindred spirit, an immortal woman to share his infinite life. When he finds the young girl Mana it seems his quest is at an end.
But others know the secret of mermaid flesh. Grave-robbing, torture and hideous medical experiments are all coldly employed to try and control the enigma of immortality. And, now, Dr. Shina and his grotesque assistant have a new subject for their research: the beautiful Mana.
As Shina's tests spawn nightmarish creatures from mermaid flesh, Yuta must find a way to be rid of the curse on him and Mana and put an end to the warped monstrosities of immortality.
Mermaid Forest is part of the Rumik World series of individual works created by the succesful comic artist, Rumiko Takahashi.
