3 GUYS, A GIRL, AND A ROSE
Chapter Thirty-Two
Christina awoke by her headache. She looked
around and saw Jack's art portfolio, remembering where she was. She saw his
clock, reading that it was eleven o’clock.
She got out of bed and went to the living
room. She saw Jack lying there asleep.
"Jack, wake up." She shook him. He
just moved around. "Jack!" she yelled into his ear. Jack stood
straight up. His hand had smacked her right in her left eye. She fell back and
held her eye.
"Oh shit! Christina I'm sorry!"
Jack said when he saw her holding his eye.
"It's okay."
"Let me check it out."
"No, I am fine."
"Let me check it out."
"No, I don't want you to."
"I said let me check it out!"
"No!" Jack grabbed her wrist and
pulled her up.
"Let go of me!"
"No! I wanna check your eye out! You
could get a black and blue." Jack dragged her to the kitchen. "Sit
down!" Christina jumped on the counter.
Jack went into his freezer, taking ice cubes
out. He placed the ice into a cloth and dabbed and held it onto Christina's
eye.
"Ow!"
"Oh stop complaining!"
"You hurt me Jack."
"I know I am sorry. I didn't mean to
knock you in the eye there."
"No. You hurt me." Jack looked at
her confused.
"What?"
"You broke my heart!" Christina
yelled out.
Jack was speechless. He didn't know what to
say. "I'll try to fix things."
"How? I still haven't even forgiven you
yet. It's only been a week since everything happened. You actually expected to
be forgiven easily."
"No. That's why I'm kind of surprised
you're even here."
"You asked. I came. I said I’d
try."
Jack took the ice off of her eye. He really
didn't know what to say. "That better?" He asked holding her face.
"Yeah." They sat quiet for a moment
staring into each other's eyes. He didn't know how he felt about her anymore.
He was deeply in love with Rose, but Christina still had her effect on him. He
was confused. The phone started to ring but Jack didn't move.
"You should go get that." Christina
said.
"Right." Jack took his hand off her
face and went to the living room. Christina hopped off the counter to follow
him.
"Hey Rose," Jack said. Christina's
felt uncomfortable when she heard the happiness in his voice. "The movies
tonight. Sure. I missed you also." Christina heard him say. She put her
boots on, grabbed her purse, and put her jacket on. She walked passed Jack and
left.
Jack looked up when he heard the door shut.
He realized he ignored her again for Rose.
