SECRET AGENT DAWSON 2: BRING ME BACK TO LIFE
Chapter Four

The next morning, Caledon watched the Omega 3 complex, waiting for the blonde Jack Dawson was so crazy about. They all started coming in at eight o’clock sharp. He watched as, one by one, they entered the complex. When he saw the blonde that he suspected to be Chloe, he sneaked up behind her and asked her for directions, pretending he was a tourist.

"Excuse me, miss." He tapped on the shoulder.

"Oh, hi," she said politely.

"Hello. I was wondering if you knew where the best place was to get a decent cup of coffee." He took off his glasses.

"Sure. There, on the corner, is a nice place." She pointed to the coffee shop she went to every morning.

"Thank you. My name is Cal." He offered his hand to her.

"Chloe. Nice to meet you." She shook his hand.

Chloe liked him. She hadn't had any contact with the male species since Jack Dawson. So, that made her tempted.

"Would you like to have a cup with me? I'm buying." He smiled at her.

"Sure. What the hell." She walked with him down the street and their conversation continued.

Jack Dawson had had a full night at home. Today, he felt great. He walked into the office, expecting to see Chloe and talk to her and apologize for his behavior yesterday, but she wasn't there. He thought she must be running late or called in sick, so he ignored it.

Rose Dawson looked like she was glowing. It appeared on her face. Amanda, Lisa, Ashley, and Paola saw Rose. They had knew what had happened.

"Looks like someone got some last night," Jen said.

Rose smiled. "Three times."

"I always said Jack was a stud," Amanda said.

Jack walked in and looked around. He saw the girls all smiling at him and wondered what was going on. "You girls happy to see me or something?"

"Sure are, stud," Paola said, walking out of the break room.

"Any of you seen Chloe around? I need to apologize to her and get a file from her," Jack told them.

"Nope. Haven't seen her all morning," Lisa said.

"Thanks." He looked over at Rose and patted her on the butt before going to his office.

He thought to himself as he sat at his desk. Where had Chloe gone? She was never late. She was always the first one to be at the office. Jack started to get worried.

His brother, Kevin, entered the office and looked over at him. "Something the matter, bro?"

"Yeah. Did Chloe call in to say she wasn't coming to work today?" he asked him.

"No. Not yet. Why? Is something wrong?" Kevin held his coffee in his hand.

"Nah. I am just worried about her, is all. So, what brings you to my office?" Jack asked him.

"We got a lead in your case. It seems we found an informant to help us to get closer to his boss." Kevin sat down in the chair across from him.

"Great. Am I going undercover again?" Jack sat back in his chair.

"Yeah. You and another person. He's from Africa and knows who’s selling all these illegal firearms on the black market." Kevin leaned forward.

"Neat! When do I start?" Jack was looking forward to starting his new mission.

"Soon. We just need to get you a girl, and it can't be your wife, either," Kevin said.

"Ah…so, who am I pretending to be this time?" Jack wondered who he would choose as his partner for this mission.

"A gun smuggler. What else? We need you to have a girl because you’re not just any smuggler. You’re the owner of a large corporation that funds these guys with money for transporting these weapons out to their destinations. We are also gonna need a lot of guys for this, so we are sending in some from the north and south alliances." Kevin wasn't sure if Jack could pull this off.

"Any snipers gonna be needed?" Jack asked. He knew the right person for the job.

"Possibly. We’ll need them for the cargo when we find out from the informant where they are being sent to." Kevin thought about it for a second and wondered if he should put someone else on the case.

"Sounds great. Can't wait to start." Jack looked at his brother and knew that look.

"Awesome." Kevin smiled, got up from his chair, and walked out.

Chloe had a great time with Cal. They talked liked they had so many things in common. Cal never brought up Rose in any of their conversations. He thought of Chloe as a very beautiful woman and he enjoyed her company very much.

They never went back to the Omega complex. Instead, Chloe invited him to take a tour of the city. She smiled and laughed at his jokes. She really liked him, and he was beginning to like her, too.

On the ferry, they sat close together. Going over to Liberty Island was one thing she never gotten to since she had moved here. He looked at her and notice a small eyelash on her cheek.

"You’ve got an eyelash on your cheek," he told her.

"Where?" she asked him.

"Just there on the right." He pointed.

She tried to wipe it off, but missed it.

"Mind if I try?" He looked at her closely.

"Nope. Go ahead." She looked into his eyes.

He touched her cheek and she breathed out slowly. He leaned in closer and she closed her eyes, knowing that he was going to kiss her.

He plunged in and kissed her. She lightly moaned, loving the contact. She looked at him when he let her go.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"Don't be. I'm not. I haven't been with a man in over seven months." She wondered why she had told him that.

"Wow. I haven't been with a woman in a very long time, either," he confessed.

She knew how he felt. It had been a while since she and Jack had slept together seven months ago. She loved making love to Jack Dawson. He was the only man she had ever loved, but it was time to move on now. He was married.

"Cal, kiss me again," she told him.

Jack never got word that Chloe wasn't coming in, so he called her house, but she never answered the phone. So, he knew something was going on. It just wasn't like her to go off and not come to work. He knew there was a special reason why she had not come in, and he knew it wasn't urgent or had to do with his daughter. Chloe would have let him know immediately. Even though they weren’t together, he knew something was going on. Chloe was always the predictable one. She was never one just to run out on her responsibilities.
