SECRET AGENT DAWSON 2: BRING ME BACK TO LIFE
Chapter Six
A couple of agents had telephoned
Kevin and told him they were coming into the office. The North and South Alliances
had sent out their best agents. There were three from each side, four men and
two women. Each was dressed in a businesslike fashion. Kevin was to be in
charge of them until their mission was complete. The North Alliance had sent in
their agents early.
James Gibson was the first to
appear, with two ladies by his side. He was allowed to go through all the
procedures upon entering the office.
When Kevin saw James with
Christina and Michelle, he waved to them, directing them to his conference
room. As he walked down the corridor and saw Ashley, he called to her.
"Ashley, can you go get Jack? We need him in here." He pointed to the
conference room.
"Sure, Kevin." She
walked down to Jack's office. "Jack?" she called.
"Yeah?" He looked up.
"Kevin needs you in the
conference room," she told him.
"All right." He got up
from his chair.
He walked to the conference room,
still debating about telling Rose to go back to her ex. As he opened the door,
he saw a guy and two girls.
"Ah…Jack," Kevin said.
"What's up?" Jack
asked.
"These are the field agents
from the North. This is James, Michelle, and Christina," Kevin introduced
them.
"Hello. I am Jack
Dawson," he said.
"So, you’re the agent who is
best known in the agency. We hear a lot of stories about you," Christina
said.
"What have you heard?"
Jack asked.
"Last story was that your ex
tried to kill you. Is that true?" Michelle asked.
"Yeah, that is true, but she
is doing good now, working for us and expecting a baby soon," he told
them.
"Do your girlfriends always
try to kill you?" James asked.
"Nah…just one." He
laughed.
"All right. Down to
business, people," Kevin said, sitting down at the head of the table. He
put his files in order and looked at all of them, waiting for them to be
seated. He cleared his throat. "All right, ladies and germs. We have a new
one here. It’s something we’ve never done before. That is why I needed the
extra help this time. Jack is going undercover, but we need you, James. We need
an extra man. I want Jack to guard you. Not the other way around. You look
similar to the president's son. He's recently been the target of minor pranks,
but we got a recent threat that he's gonna be killed soon and the president
wants us to protect him. And this is where you come in, Jack. You will work
with the Secret Service, find out anything you can about everyone, and James,
you will replace the president's son. While you switch places, Jack will keep
the SS busy. As for the girls, they will join Jack to see if there is anything
on the women's side of this. It's a very important mission. I expect nothing
but the best from all our agents," Kevin said.
"Wow. Secret Service. I
never did that before." Jack was excited.
"I am English, Kevin. I
lived in the north, but I know nothing about being a president's son,"
James said.
"It's all taken care of,
James. Here's the file the president sent over." He handed the file to
James.
Kevin passed all the files to
them. He waited for them to read through them. After waiting several minutes,
Ashley came in. "Kevin, phone call. It’s from the South Alliance."
"Okay. Will everyone excuse
me? I will be right back," Kevin said.
"Hmm…says I have a thing for
blondes," James said.
"Well, we have three here,
but only one is available, and if you touch her, you’re dead," Jack said.
"Who is this blonde you’re
so protective of?" James asked.
"Her name is Chloe. She's
the mother of my daughter," he said.
"Ah…I see." He shook
his head.
"Come on. My brother will be
out for a while. Why don't I introduce you to the crew here." Jack took it
upon himself to introduce everyone. He went into the lunchroom. Almost everyone
was in there, except his wife. He took two fingers, put them in his mouth, and
whistled to get everyone's attention. "Everyone, meet our new recruits.
James, Christina, and Michelle," Jack said. They all greeted one another,
just like family. Jack saw Chloe and then he saw Rose. He went up to Chloe
first. "Meet me in my office in thirty minutes. I have something to tell
you."
"Jack, what is going
on?" Chloe asked him.
"I'll tell you. Just go to
my office," he told her.
He went to Rose and took her by
the hand, not saying a word. He knew it was time for him to tell her the awful
truth. Telling his wife to go with another man was going to be hard for him. He
didn't dislike Cal, but he needed Rose to figure out if any of those old
feeling were there or not. He knew they both needed this, now that they had
gotten everything out of the way.
