August 22, 2002. A day she’d
never forget. Rose was only ten at the time, with no past relationships. It was
the fateful day she got on the wrong bus, with the one person who still meant
everything to her. Jack. Jack Dawson. He was the first boy she seriously liked;
he had blond-brown hair and the most beautiful blue eyes. Sure, in four years
she’d had people and relationships come in and out of her life, but he always
had a way of staying with her. To her, he’d always be there. Even when she was
all grown up and married, she knew he would still own a small part of her
heart.
Four years. Some marriages didn’t
last that long. Okay, so most did, but still, many don’t. She knew how he felt
for her. He’d only actually said it once, but it was obvious. Everyone around
them knew it. They both felt so strongly for each other and she’d do anything
just to see him smile. His smile made her smile. Nothing had happened between
them until that day he said he loved her in eighth grade. At the time, she
doubted it. She told him that she was smarter than that, but the moment she
said it she regretted it. Maybe it was puppy love; maybe it wasn’t any form of
love at all. Rose didn’t care. She cared about Jack, and how he always thought
of others before himself, or his little quirks. She’d never stop; there was no
way to forget him, at least not in the meantime. The look in his eyes was
unforgettable. She wanted so badly to take it back, or to turn back time. I
love you. How hard is that to say, even if you’re not sure if you mean it? His
face dropped, and she swore she saw tears forming in his eyes. He had the most
amazing blue eyes, and the most amazing smile. He made her happy. He makes her
happy.
He was a compulsive liar. He told
everyone that he was going to a private school and it completely broke her. For
the entire summer, Rose tried desperately to forget about him. Four years was
long enough. She knew it was stupid, and there was no chance that they’d end up
together- but she secretly hoped they did. She could barely even remember her
life before Jack. It didn’t seem to matter. She spent the whole summer in a
slump, dwelling over every little mistake she’d made; everything she did and
did not say. It wasn’t healthy; her friends tried their best because even
though she’d never admit it, they knew she was hurting.
Now, it was September 6, 2006.
Four years, two weeks. They don’t even talk anymore. They exchange glances
every time they see one another and then just move on. They turn around
simultaneously and lock eyes with each other. He seems to be a shadow of his
former self. His disposition, which was so sunny, bright, and confident, was
now somber, shy, and dark. Rose doesn’t want to flatter herself, but she
wonders if it was something about her. Who knows where this is going–if
anywhere--but Rose knows she has to do something. Everyday, she bottles up
everything she feels, because there just isn’t anyone willing to listen
anymore; and she understands that. It’s so hard to watch him walk away. It’s so
hard to brush up against him in the hallway. It’s so hard not to talk to him.
It’s so hard to see him with another girl. It’s hard being in love with Jack
Dawson.
Wish enough, wise man'll tell
you a lie
Window broke, torn up screens
Who'd have thought that you'd dream
Of a single tragic scene.
I just wanna sing a song with
you
I just want to take it off of you.
Cause Blue Eyes
You are all that I need
Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the sweet to my mean.
Fess it up, dot on the palm of
your hand
I can help you to stand
Saved it up for this dance
Tell me all the things you can.
I just wanna sing a song with
you
I just wanna be the one that's true.
Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the secret I keep
Cause Blue Eyes
All the lights on and you are alive
But you can't point the way to your heart
So sublime, when the stars are aligned
But you don't know
You don't know the greatness you are.
Cause Blue Eyes
You are destiny's scene
Cause Blue Eyes
I just wanna be the one.
I just wanna sing a song with
you
I just wanna get it on with you.
Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the secret I keep
Cause Blue Eyes
I just wanna sing a song with you…
The End.
