LOVE DOESN'T ASK WHY
Chapter Twelve
Rose stopped crying and looked at her wedding
ring.
Oh, how could I be so stupid? Jack is the nicest
and most handsome man I have ever met. And what did I do? I let him slip
through my fingers. Oh, look what I have done, Rose thought to herself. Maybe there is still a
chance.
Rose got up out of bed and went to knock on
Jack’s door. When she knocked, the door opened. Maria was there.
"What do you want?" Maria asked, lipstick
smeared all over her face and her hair messed up.
"Is Jack here?" Rose asked.
"No. I kicked him out. God only knows
where he is now, and I don’t care," Maria said, slamming the door in
Rose’s face.
Rose went up to the boat deck and looked around,
calling out, "Jack?" She went to C-Deck and found him lying on a
bench. She ran over to him. "Jack, I’m sorry," she said, sitting down
on the bench.
Jack was startled to see Rose there.
"What?" he asked, perplexed.
"It’s not a crazy idea. Jack, I changed
my mind," Rose said, throwing her ring on the deck.
Jack started to laugh.
"Jack, I love you," Rose said.
Jack smiled, and said, "I love you, too."
He held Rose, kissing her passionately. After the kiss, she felt him shivering.
"You're cold," Rose said.
"I have nowhere to go," Jack
replied.
"You do now," Rose said, chuckling.
The rain started to pour and they laughed.
Jack picked up Rose and twirled her around.
People looked at the couple who was having
such a wonderful time in the rain. Jack and Rose could see people looking out
windows, and they just waved at them.
"I’m singing in the rain!" Jack
yelled, twirling around a pole.
"What a glorious feeling. I’m happy
again!" Rose said.
"Hey, you two need to get inside. It
could be dangerous out here with the storm!" an officer yelled.
Jack and Rose went inside.
"Great. Now I’m wet, with no extra set
of clothes," Jack said.
"That’s all right. Where we are going we
don’t need any clothes," Rose said, and she closed the door behind Jack.
