FALLING INTO YOU
Chapter Thirteen
Rose had all of her clothes cleaned, and all
of her things were together. She was awake at seven, since her flight left at
ten, and Rose wanted to be able to say good-bye to Jack one last time. Rose was
in the cab with all of her stuff in it. She told Rachel and Jessica that she
was leaving earlier to say good-bye to Jack, and that she would check out of
her room. Rose told the cab driver to wait here, and she would be back in less
than twenty minutes. Rose went up to the room that Jack was in, opened the
door, and saw an empty bed with the sheets all folded up. Rose looked over at
the other bed, and there was an old man. Rose turned around to see a nurse in
front of her.
"Can I help you?" the nurse asked.
"Yes. Is there a Jack Dawson that's here
in the hospital?" Rose asked.
"No, he checked out about a half an hour
ago," the nurse said.
Rose was shocked. Why wouldn't Jack say
good-bye? Rose decided that she had not time to waste, and went back to the cab
to head toward the airport. Rose pondered on why Jack wouldn't say good-bye,
but there was always a chance that Jack decided to meet her at the airport.
Rose sighed, and then looked out the window.
"Are you a citizen of Paris?" the
cab driver asked.
"No, I'm American."
"Oh," the cab driver said. That was
practically the conversation of the cabdriver and Rose except for the,
"Thank you, and a have a nice day," when Rose handed the cab driver
the fee.
Rose walked into the airport and went over to
the ticket booth. Rose then got her ticket approved, placed her bag that she
wanted to be placed on the plane, went through the security system, and went
towards her gate where she would meet Rachel and Jessica. Since they were on a
private jet, it was small, and they had to walk outside to get to the plane.
Rose sat down with her friends, and looked around every ten minutes to see if
Jack was coming this way. He wasn't and when the ticketer called their flight
number, Rose was almost heartbroken and felt like crying. Rachel, Jessica, and
Rose started to descend down the stairs towards the plane. They placed a bag
that they wanted to be kept in the cargo hold space, but able to have it back
as soon as they got off the plane. Rose placed her bag there, and kept a hold
on to her purse. Rose was the in the middle of the line, walking up the steps.
She kept on turning around. Rose stopped at the last step, and handed the
steward her ticket.
"ROSE!" a voice yelled from behind
her.
Rose turned around and saw Jack standing
behind his car with a sling on his arm.
Rose smiled, and yelled back,
"JACK!"
Rose went down the stairs of people and
nearly knocked a model over. Her dress flew, and she held onto her summer hat
while she ran towards Jack. Rose kissed Jack passionately as she flew into his
open arms.
"I thought I wasn't going to be able to
say good-bye," Rose said.
"I thought the same," Jack said.
Rose smiled at Jack, and she kissed him
again.
"Rose! Are you coming or not?"
Rachel asked from the plane.
"Do you have to go?" Jack asked
softly.
Rose nodded her head as she closed her eyes,
while a tear fell down her cheek.
"Yes. Yes, I have to go," Rose
said. "If grandma found out that I wasn't on the flight, the whole world
would stop." Rose chuckled, wiping the tears from her eyes.
Jack sighed, and said, "Why must love be
so cruel to you and me?"
Rose smiled, and said, "Well it's not
like we were on the Titanic."
Jack and Rose giggled. "Yeah, that would
be bad. All our clothes getting wet and stuff," Jack said, wiping another
tear from her eye.
"Rose! Come on!" Jessica yelled.
"I've got to go," Rose said.
"I love you," Jack said.
"Do you think we'll ever see each other
again?" Rose asked.
"I hope so, with all my heart,"
Jack said, and kissed her on the forehead.
Rose started to walk away, and Jack still
held onto her hand. Rose turned around, and kissed Jack again.
"ROSE! We are going to leave without you
if you don't get over here!" Rachel yelled.
Rose let go of Jack's lips, and she started
to walk up the stairs to the plane. Rose waved to Jack, and Jack waved back.
