FORBIDDEN LOVE
Chapter Three
October 19, 2005
Rose walked through the door of
her house. She went towards the stairs.
"And where were you
today?" Ruth asked, obviously annoyed.
"I was out. Okay?" Rose
asked, running upstairs and slamming the door. Ruth jumped at the sound and
went into the living room to relax. In Rose’s private bathroom, she took a
shower and got ready for bed. When she got into bed, she felt her cell phone
vibrating.
"Hello, Gabrielle."
"Hi, Rose. What happened?
You never called me!" Gabby said in a teasing tone.
"Sorry. I had the best night
of my life!" Rose said, the sound of excitement escaping her lips.
"Oh, really, now?"
Gabby asked in a seductive tone of voice.
"Okay. Well, it started off
bad…okay, this is what happened. Cal called and got on my nerves. Then I broke
up with him and ran to the beach, figuring the beach was empty. Then I ran into
this man--oh, Gabrielle, he was hot--glistening blue eyes and sandy blond hair.
We bumped into each other. Then he offered me dinner. Then I poured my heart
out to him! He pretty much knows everything about me! Then I found out he was
twenty, and I told him I would be seventeen in two weeks. We were disappointed,
but I told him I loved him, and he kissed me. Then he said I love you back.
Gabby, I know what you’re gonna say, and yes, I know we just met. I also
realize that it’s illegal, but we really love each other. As they say, love at
first sight," Rose finally explained.
"Okay, Rose, here’s what I
have to say. I am super glad you broke up with Cal. He was a jerk! Also, you’d
better hope your mom doesn’t catch you with Jack. She won’t be forgiving, since
she wants you with Cal so badly. She will immediately call the police and have
him put in prison. God only knows when he’ll get out after that," Gabby
said, concerned for her best friend.
"I know, Gabby, but
wow…you’ll have to meet him. Don’t take him away!" Rose laughed.
"Well, Gabby, I have to go to sleep. See ya at school!"
"Okay, Rose. Love ya!"
"Bye, Gabby!"
Rose put her cell phone on her
desk. Then it vibrated again.
"My goodness. Who is it
now?" Rose asked herself. She noticed the number and her lips broke into a
smile. She flipped open her phone to talk.
"Hey, Jack!"
"Hey, Rose. I guess you have
caller ID on your phone?" Jack chuckled.
"Yup!" Rose smirked.
"I wanted to make sure you
were all right with your mom and Cal! Are you?" Jack asked nervously.
"Yes. Thanks, Jack, for
everything!" Rose said, getting a little more serious.
"You are most welcome, Rose.
By the way, I wanted to ask you when your birthday is," Jack said.
"It’s November fifth!"
Rose exclaimed, happy her birthday would be with Jack.
"Cool. Hey, can I pick you
up from school tomorrow? Wait—is Cal gonna be there?"
"No. He goes to private
school. Hopefully, he won’t stop and see me!" Rose exclaimed, playing with
her phone charger.
"Wait—he’s seventeen, and I
am twenty. I shouldn’t care!" Jack laughed. So did Rose. "Bye, Rose.
I will let you sleep. I love you!"
"Good night, Jack. I love
you, too!" Rose said. She kissed the phone, and both put their phones down
and went to sleep.
