JACK AND ROSE: PRESENT TIME
Chapter Two
"I really wish
you were not going out with this Dawson boy," Ruth told her daughter.
"Mother! Just
because he doesn't have a lot of money you think he's bad."
"Rose, I just
think you would look better with someone like...Caledon Hockley."
"Mom, he's not
my type," Rose said. Then she heard a knock on the door.
"That must be
Jack," Rose said nervously.
"Oh, Rose.
I'll be up in my room if you need me."
"Alright
mother."
Rose answered the
door and there was Jack with his towel.
"Hello
Rose."
"Hi Jack, come
on in."
"Man, your
garage is bigger than my house!" Jack said.
Rose smiled slightly
at him. "This way," she said as she took him threw the house.
They finally
entered the backyard. They had a huge in ground pool.
"Whoa,"
was all Jack could say.
Rose giggled and
took her clothes off. She had on a red bikini and Jack had on blue swimming
trunks.
"You look
nice," Jack said. "Are you ready?"
"Oh, Jack!
It's gonna be so cold!"
"I say we go
off the diving board first. That's the easiest way to get used to it."
"Are you
crazy?"
"Yep,"
Jack said with a smile. "Come on," he said as he dragged Rose to the
diving board.
"Okay, but I'm
only doing this if we go at the same time," Rose said.
"Alright."
Jack took Rose's hand and they walked to the edge of the diving board.
"Jack, I'm not
sure about this."
"Look, it's
the easiest way, do you trust me?"
Rose smiled.
"I trust you."
Jack squeezed Rose
hand and they counted to three. They jumped at the same time into the cold
water.
Rose came up first,
then Jack.
"Oh, shit this
is cold!" Jack said.
"I told you!
My friend once told me, it's like a thousand knives stabbing you all over your
body."
"What kind of
a loser would say something like that?" Jack said. "I'm just kidding.
Oh, man this is cold."
Jack and Rose just
swam around for a while. Then, they sat on the edge of the pool with their legs
hanging in.
"So...are you
going to Mark's party tomorrow night?" Jack asked.
"Yep."
"Cool. He
always has the wildest parties. Man, they're awesome," Jack said.
"Jack, are you
friends with Cal?"
"Cal Hockley?
Hell no. Not that rich snob. I'm sorry if you like him or something, but to be
honest, I can't stand him."
"I don't
really like him, but Tonya's crazy about him."
"Well, Rose I
better get goin', it's getting late."
Jack helped Rose
stand up. They dried off and Rose walked Jack to the front door.
"I had a fun
time tonight Rose."
"Me too."
Jack leaned over to
kiss her. Rose accepted and kissed him back passionately.
"Bye,"
Jack said before he walked out the door.
"Bye
Jack..."
