JACK AND ROSE: PRESENT TIME
Chapter Thirty-Four

"Tommy watch out!" Tonya yelled as she watched the other car slam into them. There was nothing she could do. She was dead.

Rose woke up from her horrible nightmare. She has had this dream many times before. Tonya being killed. She couldn't get it out of her mind. Her and Tonya were so close. She couldn't let go. Rose was now crying hystericly. She was going to go to her mother, but remembered that now she had Jack. She didn't want to bother Jack, but she felt she had no choice. She was shaking and she couldn't stop.

Rose quietly walked across the long hallway to the other side of the house where Jack's room was at. It was 1:30 A.M. She hoped Jack would be awake.

Before she had the chance to knock, Jack opened the door and saw Rose, standing there crying. "Rose, honey, what's wrong?" Jack said as he wrapped her in his arms and walked with her back into his room.

"Oh, Jack. I had a nightmare about Tonya, again," Rose said through her tears. "Gawd, I'm such a baby going to you for help and..."

Jack cut in. "Rose, I'm glad you came to me. That's what I'm here for." Jack and Rose both sat on Jack's bed. Rose leaned on Jack's warm body, letting him comfort her.

"I'm sorry I woke you up, Jack."

"Rose, don't worry. I was up. You know I stay up till at least two, even on school nights," Jack said with a slight laugh. "It'll be okay Rose. I promise."

"I love you, Jack."

"I love you more, Rosey."

Rose smiled slightly. "Well, now I'll never be able to get back to sleep."

Jack smiled. "Why don't you sleep in here, with me...you'll be safer."

"Don't you think my mom and John will be mad?"

Jack just kissed her on her forehead. "Does it really matter?"

Rose shook her head. "No."

About a half hour later, Rose finally fell asleep. Jack was holding her close. It really bummed him out when he figured out that he'd have to be at school in 6 hours.

Jack just closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, holding Rose close.

The next morning...

Jack and Rose were both on their way to school in Jack's truck. "I still can't believe he let us off the hook!" Rose said as she put her sunglasses on.

"I know," Jack replied. "I guess he just doesn't want to get your mother upset. My uncle wasnts everything to be perfect."

"I guess so."

As they arrived at school, the rest of the gang was hanging out by Tommy's car.

As Jack and Rose got out of the car, Fabrizio headed over to them. "Hey guys," he said.

"Hey," they replied in unison.

They walked up to Tommy and Dominique. "Dom, I love that hat!" Rose said, approaching her.

"Thanks, I got it last night."

The whole group walked into school, not wanting to be late. Jack kept a close eye on Rose. He was really worried about her. She was crying so hard last night, and now she acted like nothing had happened.

"Jack," Tommy said. "You, okay?"

Jack nodded. "Yeah."

As they reached the school building, they all went their seperate ways, except Jack followed Rose.

"Jack, don't you have to get to class?" Rose asked.

Jack sighed. "Rose, I don't care about class. I care about you. I'm worried about you."

Rose just looked into Jack's eyes. "Jack, there is no need to worry about me."

"Rose I..."

"I can take care of myself!" Rose snapped and started to walk away from Jack.

Jack stood there, just thinking. "Yeah, sure, she could take care of herself. That's why she came to me last night," Jack thought.

Jack walked slowly to his class, not caring if he was going to be late. He didn't know what to think. Ever since he moved in he noticed Rose not being herself. She never smiled anymore. He didm't know, at first, what was wrong. But now he knew. It was him.
