JACK AND ROSE: PRESENT TIME
Chapter Forty-Three

"Okay..." Mrs. Smith said. "Ryan, you'll sit by Stephanie."

Mrs. Smith, Jack and Rose's Math teacher, was making a new seating arrangement for the rest of the year. Rose prayed that she would be placed by Jack.

"And...Rose, you'll sit by Jack," Mrs. Smith said. Rose smiled and sat next to Jack. Jack and Rose sat at the same table. It was awesome.

"We got lucky there," Jack said with a smile. "Besides sitting next to each other, we're in the back row."

"I know. This is awesome!" Rose replied.

"Okay, everybody get out page 216," the teacher said.

Jack and Rose both got out their homework. Jack was getting a better grade in this class know because every night they both made sure they had the same answers.

As they were passing their papers to the front of the room, Jack noticed something. He moved Rose's folder so he could see what was written on Rose's math book cover.

Jack pointed at something Rose drew. It was a heart with Dominique and Fabrizio's names in it. Jack looked at Rose with a questioning expression.

Rose just giggled. "I know she still has the hots for him," Rose wispered.

"Well," Jack replied. "I have a feeling Fabri is still into her."

Rose smiled then she pointed to another thing she drew. It was the same thing, but with their names in the heart. Rose flipped her math book over and written in really huge letters was 'I Luv Jack'. Jack smiled at her and shook his head with a slight laugh.

Rose could already see her name all over Jack's stuff. He was such a cuttie.

When the bell rang, Jack and Rose got up and left the classroom, holdng hands. When they got out into the hall, Fabrizio ran up to them. He held out a pad. "I've been finding these all around school with my name on them!"

Jack and Rose started to crack up with laughter.

"It was you guys wasn't it!" Fabrizio exclaimed.

"No, Fabri. It wasn't us. But I give a round of applause to who did," Jack said through a laugh.

"Well, I gotta go run downstairs to catch Tommy," Fabrizio said and left.

"Poor Fabri," Rose said as she finished laughing.

Tommy came running up the stairs. "You guys seen Fabrizio?" he asked.

"Uh, yeah he just ran downstairs looking for you," Rose said.

"Thank God. He's gonna kill me," Tommy said.

"It was you who did that?" Jack asked.

"Yep. You know I'm the king of pranks," he said as he gave Jack a high five. Rose just rolled her eyes.

"How could you do something that mean to a friend?" Rose wondered.

Jack looked at Rose. "Rose, this has happened every year since seventh grade. Tommy and Fabrizio see who can do the biggest prank to each other. They don't take it personal."

Rose just nodded. These guys were really weird!

"Congratulations on getting your license, Rose," Tommy said.

"Oh, thanks."

"Well, gotta go. See ya guys later," Tommy said as he started to run so he wouldn't be late for his next class.

After school...

Rose pulled up into her driveway. Jack and her both got out of the car and went inside of the house.

"Sarah?" Rose yelled as she entered the house. "I guess she's not home."

"Remember?" Jack asked. She said she was going to be gone until late tonight."

"Oh, yeah," Rose said with a sigh. "I'm gonna go take a nice, warm bath," Rose said. "Wanna join me?"

Jack smiled. "Nah, you go ahead. I have to call John and tell him that all is well and study for my biology test tomorrow. Can I take a rain check?"

"Sure," Rose said and walked up stairs.

Rose didn't know a person could feel so tired! She started the water. She made sure it was the right temperature, then she took off her clothes. It felt so good once she got in. She didn't even care if she fell asleep.
