JACK AND ROSE: PRESENT TIME
Chapter Seventy

That evening was a quite one. With Jack and Alexia furious Tommy, there wasn't much room for small talk. The only ones that really talked were Fabrizio and Dominique. The evening went by very slow.

In the middle of the night, Rose woke up from a noise. She thought she heard footsteps outside the tent. Yet, she knew it was probably just her imagination. With all of those stories about the woods being haunted, there was room for her mind to play tricks on her.

Rose looked around the tent at everyone sleeping. Jack was sleeping next to her. Tommy and Alexia were sleeping in separate corners, wanting to be as far away from each other as possible. Rose smiled when she saw Dominique sleeping in Fabrizio's arms. At least those two had a chance.

She decided to get up and make sure everything was okay. She just didn't feel right, like something was wrong. And, Rose wasn't an easy girl to scare.

She opened the tent door and took a look around. It didn't seem like anything. But, soon it was something. Someone grabbed her mouth shut and pulled her front the tent. There was nothing she could do. They knocked her out.

Rose woke up and looked around the small room she was in. It looked like some sort of a cabin. "Jack?" She asked, almost a reflex.

"Sorry Rose," a man's voice said back. "This isn't Jack."

Rose had a splitting headache. But, she knew immediately who the voice belonged to. The one and only Tony Dawson.

"What am I doing here?" She asked as she rubbed her head.

"Well," Tony said. "Your friend, Cal helped me out with the kidnapping. I'm just up for a little fun."

Rose knew not to mess with this man. He was probably her worst enemy, after Cal. Rose had no idea how people could have so much evil inside them, and especially when they're related to Jack. Where did Tony go wrong?

Rose tried to get up off the bed, but she realized she couldn't. She was tied up. She could barely move. "Help!!" Rose screamed hoping someone in the outside world would hear her.

"Shut up!" Tony yelled. "Do you want me to go kill Jack? I will! If you even try to escape I swear I'll kill all of your friends!"

Rose knew when to shut up. She knew she couldn't let her friends get hurt on account of her. Rose started to cry, almost hysterically. She couldn't think of another thing to do. Was she going to be killed by Jack's mad brother?

Tony leaned over her. "I've got to go check something. I'll be back." He felt her face, gently. Rose bit him as hard as she could. After she did it, she regretted it. He got really mad.

"You bitch!" He took his knife off the table and ran it across her cheek, leaving what would become a hideous scar.

Rose couldn't's scream, because he gagged her with a cloth. He gave her one more look and left the cabin. She was in so much pain. Where was he going? Was he going to hurt Jack? Was she going to die? Someone, suddenly, came through the door.

"Hello Rose."

It was Cal. Rose let out a sigh of relief. For once in her life, she was happy to see him. Cal was a jerk, but he wasn't a mad man. Maybe he could help her get free.

Cal reached over and untied the cloth so she could talk. "Rose...how did you get cut?" He asked as he wiped away the blood running down her face. "Are you okay?"

Rose looked pleadingly into his eyes. "Cal...please help me...get me out of here. He'll kill me! He's mad!"

Cal looked into her eyes sadly. "I'm sorry Rose. I can't do that."

Rose grabbed his arm. "Please Cal...please help me."

Cal shook his head. "I'm sorry..."

"Why won't you?"

He looked at her with pity. "Tony Dawson will have me killed if I even try to help you, Rose. Just do what he says...You might get out alive."

"Why did you help him kidnap me?" Rose asked.

"Because..." Cal said. "He said if I didn't...that he would turn me in."

"Turn you in for what?" Rose asked.

"Rose...I've done a lot of things in my life. Drug dealing, harassment, but I'd never do anything like this unless I had to. Believe me."

Rose took his hand. "Please...just tell Jack where I'm at. Please. Tell him to stay away from Tony and to get out of here..."

"He won't leave you, Rose," Cal replied.

Rose nodded. "I know...but I can't help that. Tell him to be careful. Please...tell him."

Cal nodded. Then, Tony came through the door. "Look at you two," he said with a laugh. "If I didn't know any better, Hockley I would think you were hitting on my girl."

"I have to go," Cal said as he stood up. "I'll keep in contact, Tony."

Tony smiled as he left the cabin. Rose prayed that Cal would tell Jack. She didn't want him to come and find her...He might be killed. But she knew he had to know where she was at. Maybe Jack will call the police and not be stupid enough to mess with his brother again. But, deep down inside, Rose knew Jack would find her himself.

Jack woke up half asleep. He was still tired. He rolled over so he'd be closer to Rose. But...Something was wrong! He opened his eyes all the way and noticed Rose wasn't even there.

He looked around the tent at everyone sleeping. Rose wasn't anywhere. He got up and looked outside the tent. Maybe she went for a walk? But, it was six o'clock in the morning. He doubted she'd get up so early. He checked the van, he checked the nearby lake, he checked everywhere.

He went back to the tent. He woke up Fabrizio. "Fabri...Fabri...Rose is gone!"

Fabrizio lifted his head from Dominique's shoulder, waking her up too. "Where did she go?" He asked.

"I don't know!"

Fabrizio and Dominique followed Jack outside again just in time to notice a note under the van's windshield wipers. Jack couldn't believe he didn't notice it before. Unless someone just put it there...The three of them read the note.

You must be wondering about Rose. I know what happened. I can't tell you who I am, but I can tell you who kidnapped Rose. It was your brother, Jack. He took her to a cabin somewhere in these woods. He's a total mad man. I talked to Rose. She looked horrible. She already had gotten cut across the face. I'm telling you, Jack, help her. You're her only hope. Tony Dawson can outsmart the police, but I know he can't outsmart his little brother. Please save Rose.

Jack read the note again. He looked up at his friends with shocked faces. Jack knew he couldn't have a mental breakdown. Rose needed him! "Shit..." Jack muttered as he dropped the note onto the ground.

"Wake up the others," Jack said. "Tell them what's happening. Dominique, can I use your van?"

Dominique nodded. "Of course."

Dominique started to cry, she couldn't help it. Rose was in deep trouble. She knew what Tony Dawson was capable of doing. Fabrizio held her and tried to comfort her as best as he could.

Tommy and Alexia came running out of the tent. "What happened?" Alexia asked. "Where's Rose at?"

Dominique showed both of them the note. They were both as shocked as the others to see what had happened.

"I gotta go find her," Jack said as he got into the van.

"I'm going with you," Tommy said.

"No!" Jack said, remembering the latest events.

"Look Jack," Tommy said. "I know you're pissed off at me right now. But we both have to think of Rose. You know the two of us stand a better chance against Tony. You know it."

Jack hated to admit it. But, Tommy was right. "Get in," Jack said.

"Want me to come?" Fabrizio asked, obviously scared, but willing to try and help.

"No Fabri," Jack said. "Stay here with the girls."

Fabrizio nodded and took a step back from the car. He figured someone had to protect the other girls as well. Tony could be anywhere!

And the two guys pulled off onto the dirt road. "Where are we going?" Tommy asked.

"We'll take this road to the end of the woods and then search. There are a couple cabins up that way."

Tommy nodded. "Jack...I didn't mean to kiss Rose. It just happened. I only think of her as a friend..."

"There's no time for that now," Jack said. "We have to find Rose."
