JUST WHEN I NEEDED YOU
Epilogue
August 14, 2003
Two men stood, staring at the building they
had just been inside of as it crumbled to the ground. "My God," one
of the men, the youngest, whispered, unaware of the large block of concrete
that was headed directly for him, traveling at the speed of light. The older
man, however, did see, although too late.
"Move!" he yelled, just as the rock
hit his friend in the head.
The younger man crumbled to the ground,
groaning as blood poured from the wound on his head. The older man knew that
because of the bomb that had just exploded the building before them, it would
be some time before medics would be able to reach them, so he grabbed the
younger man under the arms and dragged him into the woods, in search of help.
After some time, he stumbled upon a camp of Italian soldiers.
"Quick! We need help. My friend is
injured!"
And the men reacted, carrying the young man
into their makeshift hospital, doctors scurrying about to help.

A few hours later, the older gentleman was
sitting outside the hospital when one of the doctors approached him. "Sir,
we're going to have your friend transported to a hospital in Italy. We can't
adequately treat his injuries here. We're going to need his name for record
purposes."
The older man nodded and stubbed his
cigarette out. "Of course. It's Jack. Jack Dawson."
The End.
