SECRET AGENT DAWSON
Chapter Twenty-One
Rose walked down the hallway and heard Lisa.
She was sick.
"Hey, Lisa. What's up?" Rose opened
the door.
"I'm sick. I think I’ve got the stomach
flu or something." Lisa was bent over the trash can.
"Ever think it might be something
else?" Rose asked.
"Don't even say it, Rose. Because I
would be in a mess of trouble." Lisa looked at her and her stomach calmed
down.
"What do you mean? It is Bill's,
right?" Rose helped Lisa by getting her a glass of water.
"Maybe. Thanks, Rose." Lisa drank
the water.
"What happened, Lisa?" Rose sat by
her.
"Tobey and I…we did it after I had a
fight with Bill over something stupid," Lisa mentioned.
"Wait--weren't you pregnant
before?" Rose remembered long ago.
"Yeah, I was, but I lost it. After that,
Bill and I haven't been the same."
"Oh, no, Lisa." Rose was very
concerned.
"What about you and Jack? How are you
guys doing?" Lisa asked.
"We are doing fine, Lisa. Quite
good." Rose wondered if she would ever start a family with Jack.
"Anything on George?" Lisa changed
the subject.
"Maybe. Jack and the guys are on the
trail," Rose said.
"Well, that's good. I hope we catch him.
We’ve worked very hard the past few months." Lisa straightened in her
seat.
"I know. Jack has hardly slept the past
few nights. I am worried about him. He's been pushing himself so much
lately." Rose folded her hands in her lap.
"I know, Rose. We all have." Lisa
felt better.

Tobey walked in shortly after Rose left.
"Hey, Lisa. I need these faxed to our
northern agency ASAP. You okay?" Tobey handed them over and looked at her.
"Yeah. I am just sick, Tobey. I don't
want you to worry about me. Bill will suspect something if we talk to each
other." Lisa was going to throw up again. Tobey quickly got the trash can for
her.
"Lisa, what is wrong? Tell me."
Tobey held her face.
"I think I am pregnant, and I am scared
because it might be yours. In fact, I am sure it is yours," Lisa told him
boldly.
Tobey sat there, unable to believe that he
had gotten his best friend's wife knocked up.
"You don't have to worry about this,
Tobey. Really." Lisa tried to comfort him.
"Jeez, Lisa. I can't believe this. I am
so sorry I did this to you, but I will be there even if you decide to still
stay with Bill." He tried to apologize, but couldn't.
"Thanks, Tobey." She hugged him as
Bill came in.
"Hey, what's wrong? Trying to steal my
wife, Tobey?" Bill joked.
"Nah. I just needed her to fax these
over to the northern agency," he confessed, concealing his betrayal.
"Oh, all right. Mind if I talk to my
wife?" Bill looked at him.
"Sure. See you, Lisa, Bill." Tobey
walked away with the news, still unable to believe it.

Meanwhile, in the conference room, Jen and
Tommy were fooling around.
"Tommy, are you sure you broke up with
your girlfriend? I don't wanna be second best." She pushed him back away
from her.
"Yeah. I am sure. I finally caught her
with her boyfriend." He stepped back and sat on the table.
"What did you do?" Jen was very
curious.
"I told Marie to continue what she was
doing and introduced my new girlfriend. Of course, she was my neighbor and she
was interested in the apartment. So we played it as if she was my new girl,
Marie was surprised, I sold the apartment, and she begged me to take her back
but I didn't. And that was that."
"Good." She kissed him back and
leaned him against the table.
Kevin walked in, doing the famous trying to
clear your throat so they would know you were there act.
Jen and Tommy backed away and smiled at him.
"Hey Jen, Tommy. We are gonna use that
table right now, so can you guys put these out?" He gave them some
folders.
"Sure, Kevin." Jen took the files
from his hands and gave Tommy some to help her with.
Kevin called Jack, Rose, Lisa, Tobey, Bill,
Paola, and Christian to the conference room.
They all sat down as soon as each one got
there.
Kevin sat at the head of the table with Jack
by his side.
"All right, guys. We found the codes and
we know where they are headed. The only thing we have to do is intercept the
trade," Kevin stated.
"Where?" Jack asked.
"Germany," Kevin replied.
"Ah…just a place I love," Jack
replied.
"Will George be there?" Bill asked.
"Most likely, Bill." Kevin looked
at his dossier. "These dossiers will tell you with everything you will need
to know for the mission."
"Ah…and what mission is this? Operation
Retrieval?" Tobey asked.
"No, Tobey. This is Operation
Deadhead," Kevin joked, laughing.
"Very funny, Kevin. Finally, I see you
came to life," Tobey joked back.
"Yeah. Anyways, good luck as always,
ladies and gentlemen," he said, and concluded the conference.
Everyone got up and headed home for the night
to pack for yet another excursion.

They all met at LAX later that day, ready to
head off to Germany, Jack's home country.
His Oma and Opa lived there. He remembered
one summer he had spent with them. He had learned to speak German. He had loved
his stay there.
They got their private jet as usual. Lisa had
not gone, but the others had. She had just stayed home. Bill had insisted that
she do so.
Tobey, Bill, Tommy, Jack, Christian, and the
girls, Paola, Jen, and Rose sat together.
Paola had liked Jack, but they had never
gotten together. She had always been close to him like a sister. She helped him
when he needed it and she always volunteered to be his assistant.
Paola saw Jack and Rose talking and laughing
together. She had never felt so alone as she did now. She and Jack had always
sat together before Rose came into the picture. She just sat back quietly, not
disturbing anyone.
Jen sat with Tommy, fooling around as usual.
They had only been together for a week, and they were already talking about
marriage.
Tobey, Bill, and Christian sat together. They
talked about sports and the usual.
"Hey, Christian, are you ever gonna have
the nerve to ask Paola out?" Tobey asked him.
"Nah. I don't think she cares for me
much. I always see her hanging around Jack. It's obvious she is in love with
him." Christian looked at his hands, trying to distract himself.
"Okay, but remember, she's beautiful and
she's hot. Maybe I should ask her out," Tobey said.
"If you touch her, you’re dead,
Maguire," Christian said.
Tobey didn't like Paola that way, but he said
it to make Christian move his butt to ask her out. He didn't know quite what to
do about Lisa, though. She was always in the back of his mind--the baby,
especially. He wondered if Bill knew. Maybe he did, since they weren't speaking
as much.
