SECRET AGENT DAWSON
Chapter Twenty-Six

The Wedding

The funeral was at ten in the morning on Sunday, and everyone was there to honor Bill Carter. Lisa wore black, with a veil over her face. Tobey hugged her close to him.

It was a closed casket funeral because of the fire. Everyone told him farewell and left a rose on his coffin. He was to be cremated.

The short service lasted about an hour or so. Lisa hovered over the coffin to say her final good-bye to him.

She said a few words to him, and left with Tobey.

All the agents gathered over at Tobey's house for a kind of remembrance dinner.

Lisa, Paola, Jen, Jack, Kevin, Christian, Tommy, Rose, Cassie, Ashley, Amanda, Bunny, and Jake went into the house. They put their coats and jackets into the first bedroom.

Some of them chatted and talked to each other. Some of the others helped Lisa with the food. It seemed like Bill had a lot of friends. He would always be remembered. No matter what, he was a good friend and the best agent.

"So, Jack, anything new since the last case?" Tobey asked.

"No, not a word. Seems everything is in the clear. How are you and Lisa doing?" Jack had not seen Tobey until now.

"Well, we are fine. She lives with me now, and the wedding is planned, so everything is okay." Tobey looked over at Lisa and gave her a smile.

"Very good. Tobey." Jack was preoccupied with Rose.

"How are you and Rose?" Tobey just had to ask.

"Not so good. We were having sex one time and I saw Paola's face." Jack remembered that moment in his mind.

"Yikes! Do you love her?" Tobey looked at Paola. She was chatting with Lisa.

"Rose? Yes, of course, but for some reason Paola's been on my mind." Jack loved Rose. Why in the hell would he be thinking of Paola? he thought to himself.

"You’d better not go after Paola, or Christian will kick your ass," Tobey warned him.

"Or he'll try." Jack laughed.

The guys chatted about work, Bill's practical jokes, and other stuff, while the girls got the dinner table set and everyone was called to the table.

Everyone gathered at the table and sat down. Tobey and Lisa sat at the head of the table.

Tobey tapped his glass to get everyone's attention.

"Okay, people. I just wanted to say a toast." He held his glass high.

"Bill, you were the best guy in the whole world. I am sorry that I never told you how good a friend you were. And I am sorry that I never told you that I slept with your wife and produced a child you thought was yours. Lisa has agreed with me to call our child Bill, if it's a boy, or Cynthia, if it's a girl. You guys probably didn't know this." He looked at everyone and gave a crooked smile. "Anyway, I just wanna say to Bill…may you rest in peace. We love you, man." He put up his glass higher and drank the wine.

Everyone said cheers and sipped their glasses. They ate their food and chatted some more.

When it was time to leave, Jack and Rose helped out to clean up the mess.

The agents of Omega 3 were going through a dry spell. There had been no cases that were of special importance. Some of the agents were given a special vacation. Tobey took his for his wedding and honeymoon. Jack was his best man, and Paola was the maid of honor. The wedding took place in Italy. Lisa had always wanted to go there. So Tobey had made the arrangements and had the wedding prepared over there.

At one o’clock PM, the wedding was to start. Lisa held her bouquet, nervous for the first time in her life.

Tobey stood there at the alter like a proud husband, which he would be. Jack saw, and he didn't look nervous whatsoever.

When the music began to play, Tobey stood there with a smile on his face.

Lisa walked down the aisle with a glowing smile, and Kevin walked by her side to give her away.

When Lisa reached Tobey, Tobey reached for the veil and pushed it back, revealing her face.

He lightly caressed her face, as this was the happiest day of his life. Never in his wildest dreams had he ever thought he would find love, much less be a father at that.

"We are gathered here today to join Lisa Marie Gibbs and Tobias Vincent Maguire. These two souls have found love, and are here with us today to share that love by binding together as one," the priest said. "Before you, Lisa Marie Gibbs and Tobias Vincent Maguire, are joined in marriage in the presence of your family, friends, and witnesses, I am to remind you of the serious and binding nature of the relationship you are now about to enter. I shall now ask you to make your marriage vows," the priest said, looking at them both. "Tobias, will you take Lisa to be your lawful wife? Will you love her, honor her, and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others keep only unto her so long as you both shall live?" He waited for Tobey.

"I will," Tobey said, smiling.

"Lisa, will you take Tobias to be your lawful husband, will you love him, honor him, and keep him in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others keep only unto him so long as you both shall live?" he asked her.

"I will." Lisa touched his hand and smiled at him.

"You will now provide the symbol of love that will link you two together." The priest waited for the rings.

"Lisa, with this ring, I thee wed." Tobey took her hand and put the ring on her finger.

"Tobias, with this ring, I thee wed." Lisa grabbed his hand, took the ring, and put it on his hand with a kiss.

"As you have consented together to be bound to one another in lawful marriage, you have made special promises to each other which have been symbolized by the joining of hands, taking of vows, and by the giving and receiving of rings. By the authority vested in me, according to the laws of Italy, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Now that the ceremony is over and the experience of living day by day is about to begin, go, and meet it gladly. You may now kiss the bride." The priest smiled.

Tobey kissed Lisa for quite some time before the priest could announce them officially husband and wife.

"I would now like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Maguire," the priest said, smiling at the happy new couple.

Everyone clapped, and the music played again. Everyone seemed happy, and it was a happy day for everyone.
