SECRET AGENT DAWSON
Chapter Thirty-Three

Tobey made a call and got hold of Jack. He didn't tell him any details. He just asked him to get to his house fast. Jack ended up arguing for a few seconds. He was at home with Rose. She had let him sleep with her now. Since the big fight they had, they had a lot of making up to do.

Jack dragged himself out of bed and quickly put on some clothes. His appearance had changed dramatically in the last few days. His hair was darker, and his attitude was that of a teenager. Rose was awake when Tobey called. She didn't know anything. Jack kissed her good-bye and got his car keys. He headed over to Tobey's house, half asleep and half awake. When he knocked on the door, he woke up.

"Come on. It's cold out here." Jack rubbed his arms.

Tobey answered the door. "Thanks for making it."

"Make it quick. Rose is waiting," Jack said, entering the house.

"Gosh, someone is grumpy," Bill said.

"Bill! But you’re dead." Jack was in shock.

"Nope. I am one hundred percent alive." Bill stood up and went to hug Jack.

"What happened?" Jack looked at him, curious as to what was going on.

"Jack, remember when we were kids?" Bill looked at Jack with a funny expression.

"Yeah. Why?" Jack tried to get what he was saying.

Bill handed him a piece of paper. He deciphered it within a few seconds. Inside the letter, it said:

The house is bugged. Play along.

"Oh, my God. It's not true." Jack acted like he was in shock and mad.

"Yeah, it is." Bill smiled.

"Bill, how could you sleep with Rose?" he yelled at him.

"You weren't there. She needed someone." Bill played along with Jack's scheme.

"I am gonna beat the crap out of you." Jack was furious.

"Come on outside, then." Bill went outside first.

Jack threw the first punch. Bill held him down on the ground and said a few words to him. He told him everything about John and Mark as they played around, fighting on Tobey's lawn.

"He's alive?" Jack mumbled.

"Yeah, and he used you and I as guinea pigs. Do you have a hard time remembering?" Bill asked, helping him up.

"Sometimes." Jack touched the scar on his head.

"Then there must be something in me that you don't have. We're gonna need Maguire." Bill started to think about it.

"Like?" Jack asked.

"Don't know. Is your basement in working condition?" Bill cleaned the grass stains off his pants as he looked down.

"Fully," Jack said.

"Great. Let's get to work. Sorry about the letter, but if they are listening…" Bill started to explain.

"It's all right. Sorry for hitting you." Jack brought him closer and hugged him.

"No problem. Any longer in that house and I would have killed Maguire." Bill was still upset at the news about Tobey and Lisa.

"Oh, I forgot. He married your wife." Jack ran his hand through his now darkened hair.

"Yeah. Jack, I promise we are gonna cure you," Bill said, patting him on the back.

"Thanks. I need it. Rose got mad that I cheated on her with Paola." He still couldn't believe he had done that.

"Paola? Really? What else have I missed?" Bill asked, getting into Jack's car.

"Besides me getting shot in the head? Nothing else." At least, that was all he could remember.

"Wow. I sure missed everything." Bill really missed Lisa now, more than ever before.

"Hey. If you’re here, who did we bury?" Jack wondered.

"Beats me." Bill shrugged his shoulders.

Jack and Bill got into Jack's car. They hadn't bothered to tell Tobey that they were leaving. From a distance, Tobey waved to them. Jack turned around and waved back. Bill got in the passenger seat and relaxed. He started to yawn.

"You tired, Bill?" Jack asked, concerned about his friend.

"Just a little. So, how are you and Rose?" Bill was curious.

"We’re a lot better now than before." Jack smiled, thinking of Rose.

"That's good. So, you really cheated on her?" Bill guessed that the serum that they had injected into him was confusing his thoughts and concentration.

"Yeah, big time. She was outside the door when Paola and I finished having sex," Jack explained.

"Wow. So, how was Paola?" Bill was curious as to why Paola always kept to herself.

"Hey, man, I don't kiss and tell." Jack hit him on the shoulder.

"All right." Bill backed off.

"But, hey, let me tell you this. Paola--she's one hell of a girl. I apologized to her, and she accepted it. I remembered that she told me she was in love with me in Germany. I vaguely remember what she said, but I felt that she loved me that day in her office." He smiled, thinking of her creamy skin against his.

"Whoa. That's kind of too crazy for me. With Lisa and I, it just felt right. Although she didn't bother to tell me she was in love with Maguire or that she had been impregnated by him, which sort of makes me mad as hell. You know what I mean," Bill said, keeping his anger under wraps.

"Yeah. I can imagine. But, hey, in all of this, he really loves her. It wasn't just a scam and then he left her." Jack tried to justify Tobey's situation.

"I guess I can respect that. If I had really died, she would be a single mother. I am not saying I am happy about this, but I am glad it was Maguire and not some other guy who would beat her up." Bill wanted better for Lisa if he had died.

"I totally agree." Jack nodded his head.

Meanwhile, at Jack's house, Rose put on a pretty nightgown. She lit candles and put a song on. She walked around singing. She swayed her hips to the beat, imagining that Jack was caressing her. She heard his car entered the driveway. The candles flickered in the dim light. She heard the key twist in the lock. She immediately sat on the couch.

Jack saw that it was dark and that the music was on. He saw Rose in a pretty, see-through nightgown. He turned around, telling Bill to stay there.

"Rose, darling…um…would you mind putting some clothes on? We’ve got a guest." Jack hated ruining the surprise that she had promised him when he got back.

"Oh, sure. I hadn't expected you would be bringing someone back with you." Rose got up and headed to the bedroom.

Jack turned off the music and looked at Rose as he turned on the lights. He caught her naked behind as he looked at her. His temperature began to rise.

"Bad timing, I see." Bill had seen Rose, barely catching a glimpse of the sheer material she wore.

"Yeah, Bill. Rose and I have a lot of making up to do." He smiled at him.

"Lucky you. My wife was stolen from me." Bill frowned.

"Sorry, man." He patted his back now.

"It's all right. Can we get to the basement?" Bill asked, wanting to get Lisa out of his mind.

"Yeah. Let me see if Rose is decent." Jack left Bill, went into his bedroom, and saw Rose dressing. He grabbed her from behind and started to caress her. She turned around and kissed him.

"Well, Mr. Dawson, who is it that you brought home with you?" Rose hadn't bothered to look over his shoulder to see who it was.

"Get dressed and you'll see." Jack touched her cheek and kissed it.

"All right." She slipped on her robe. When she entered the living room, she saw Bill sitting there, looking at her.

"Oh, my God! Bill!" She went up to him and hugged him.

"Rose. So good to see you." Bill hugged her.

"I thought you were..." She couldn't believe her eyes.

"I was, for a while. Jack will explain later. Sorry to be rude, but we’ve got things to do." He grabbed Jack by the shirt and dragged him.

"Sure," Rose said, seeing Jack being pulled by Bill.

Jack and Bill walked to the closet and opened up the panel for the elevator. They stepped inside together. "Close quarters."

"Yeah. I didn't want it to be too noticeable," Jack said, wanting to go back to Rose.

"Anything I should worry about?" He knew Jack had to have some sort of security.

"Nah. I will scan you in. You got the A-Class 203?" Jack asked.

"Yeah. It's in my upper left arm," Bill told him.

"Great." When the elevator reached the bottom, Jack stepped out first. He entered a code into a keyboard and the light above blinked and turned off. Jack motioned for Bill to come forward. He had turned off the security beam.

Bill got out of the elevator and went into the office. He sat with Jack. The first thing Bill did was get a syringe and a vial. He took out some of his blood. After the vial was filled, he put it in a machine. The vial spun around, and after a while he checked a sample under the microscope. "Wow. Look at this, Jack."

Jack took a look. "Hmm…what is it?"

"Jack, did you ever have chicken pox when you were little?" It was amazing, but John had forgotten one simple thing in his mind control recipe.

"Yeah. I was itchy for a week." Jack still felt itchy.

"Wow/ I think the difference between you and I is that I never had them. For some reason, I was immune to them. Something in my blood is different. We have to get Maguire here. Maybe he can find the thing that makes me different from everyone else." Bill hated that he needed Tobey, but finding a cure for Jack's dilemma was something they had to do together.

"Sure." Jack began to grab the phone when he passed out.

"Jack!" Bill dialed Tobey's number. He took Jack's pulse. It was kind of slow.

The phone rang. "Tobey, I need you. Jack just fainted. Come quick." Bill had never been so nervous.

Tobey didn't say anything. He just left and kissed Lisa good-bye, not saying a word. He didn't know what had happened to Jack, but it had to do something with that mind control drug. He was pretty sure that John hadn't run many trials on it yet. So there could be many things going on in Jack and Bill's bodies. Tobey just hoped he wasn't too late to save one of his best friends.
