FEELINGS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Chapter Ten
The days passed and Jack and Rose
tried to share as much time possible. They would do this in secret and did
their best to not let anyone know they were together, they didn’t want any
attention. Rose was busy doing a movie and Jack was concentrated in getting a
role that he had been wanting for years. It was the biographical movie of his
favorite author. Jack was with Joe in his office talking about the movie.
“Jack this would be a great role.
It has Oscars written all over it. Except the production is only offering you
17 million and you are getting paid 20 to 25 million for a movie. I told them
you aren’t going to do it if you don’t get paid what you deserve.” Joe said.
“Look I have wanted to do this
movie for years now I’m not going to say no just because I’m getting paid 3
million less. I want to do this.” Jack said.
“Yes Jack but you know how hard
it was for me to get you 20 to 25 million a movie? No!” Joe said.
“It’s my freaking career and
money!! I want to do this and you aren’t going to stop me.” Jack said angrily.
“Okay, okay just don’t get mad. I
just wanted you to get what is fair, that’s all.” Joe said getting up from his
chair. Jack cell phone rang and Joe looked at him. “Go ahead and answer it. I
can wait.” He said and Jack answered and a beautiful smile appeared on his face
when he heard her voice.
“Hey pretty one, what are you up
to?” he asked smiling. Joe rolled his eyes thinking that it was another girl of
his.
“Pretty? That is all I am?” she
asked playfully.
“Of course not, you are
beautiful.” He said and Joe made a face that showed his irritation of his
words.
“Are you busy? I was thinking
maybe we could spend the night at my house.” She said in a flirting mood and
Jack smiled.
“Sure, I can’t wait. Look I’m in
a meeting right now, but I’ll see you later. Okay?” he said.
“Okay creep. Bye, love ya’.” She
said and he said bye and hanged the phone up. Joe heard her voice and was in
shock.
“Creep? Jack were you talking to
Rose?” Joe asked angrily and Jack knew he was in bad business. He didn’t plan
to tell Joe, he knew Joe would get mad and critique him.
“Why would you think that?” Jack
asked hoping Joe wouldn’t see it in his eyes.
“Because you are the only weird
people that call each other stupid names!!”
“For your information they aren’t
stupid we just like picking on each other.” Jack said.
“Oh how romantic!!! Jack you have
lied to me. Look as your agent I need you to tell me these things! What if someone
finds out? What am I supposed to do?”
“Nothing! It’s my business. Look
I’m finally happy Joe. Rose loves me and I love her. That is all that needs to
be said.”
“I wish it was that simple! Look,
do whatever you like Jack. But if they don’t give you this role because of this
scandal, don’t go blaming me.” Joe said and Jack looked at him with anger.

Jack arrived at Rose’s house and
when she opened the door he grabbed her and hugged tightly. She started to
laugh and he took her to her bedroom and fell with her on the bed.
“Why are you so happy?!!” she
said giggling. He got off from her and laid by her side.
“Remember that movie I told you I
have wanted to do for years now?” he asked smiling and catching his breath.
“Yes I remember. What happened?”
“Well I got the role! I’m so
happy and excited. We start shooting in two months.” He said smiling and kissed
her neck.
“I thought we were taking a break
together. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy for you Jack…I’m really happy. I know
you have wanted this like forever, but I wanted to be with you and you’re
leaving me in two months.” She said pulling away.
“Babe…weirdo come on. I’m not
leaving you. I promise that when the movie is done we’ll take a long vacation.”
He said hugging her.
“So that means we are going to
tell the media? I’m tired of hiding. I want to tell the whole world that I love
you.” She said kissing him.
“Yes me to, but not right now
babe.” He said kissing her.
“Then when?”
“Be patient. I promise soon,
trust me weirdo.” He said playfully and she laid her head on his shoulder while
he rapped his arm around her.
“I trust you. I don’t know why
but I do.” She said and he started to laugh. They were on their backs silently
for a moment. Jack stared at the ceiling and Rose closed her eyes.
“You know when we finished making
the movie I thought I wasn’t going to see you anymore and here I am laying on
this bed with you in my arms. I thought this would be impossible. Yet I wished
it everyday.” He said and she smiled.
“Really? Jack I’m scared. I don’t
want this to be another two month Hollywood couple. That already happened to me
with Ben. It didn’t surprise me, I didn’t love him. All I ever did was think of
you.” Rose and Jack kissed her.
“Don’t worry Rose, we’ll always
be together. I’ve cried too much to go on without you. Not that I cried…men
don’t cry.” He said sarcastically and she started to laugh and pushed him down
as he was getting up.
“You are such a goof Jack
Dawson!” She said laughing and he pulled her by his side.
“That’s why you love me.” He said
smiling and kissed her and she kissed him back.

A few months passed and Jack met
with his agent and representative. They were discussing his next movie when
Jack’s other agent Sofia brought a magazine in the room.
“I think we have bad news Jack.
The press some how knows…well they believe you and Rose are together.” She said
giving him the magazine. It had Jack and Rose’s picture from the “What Do The
Stars Say?” premiere in the front cover with the title, From movie love to
‘real love’. Rumors of America’s favorite movie couple actually together, and
its’ only been a few months since her divorce! Did Hollywood player Jack Dawson
have to do with the divorce? Jack threw the magazine and Joe picked it up.
“I told you Jack!! If this ruins
your chances of getting the Oscar don’t blame me!” Joe said angrily.
“I have not even made the movie
yet!” Jack yelled. “Ugh I was so afraid of this happening. What am I going to
do?” Jack said putting his hands on his face in worry.
“Finally welcome to Hollywood
Jack. You can’t hide anything in this place.” Joe said and Jack looked at him.
His representative laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry Jack. You are a
great actor. I’m sure this won’t overshadow your work.” He said.
“I hope it doesn’t. I really love
Rose, but I also love what I do. I can’t choose anymore. I wouldn’t dare choose
over her. She s everything to me, I can’t see myself with out her.” Jack said.
“Just remember Jack, anything that
starts bad, ends bad and this started bad.” Joe said.
