Colqhoun/Colonel Ives (Robert Carlyle) - For a first name I'd give him Jeremiah Ives. Oh, that was worth the moment it took me to think of that one. I like it.
Colonel Hart (Jeffrey Jones) - For some odd reason Floyd comes to mind.
Private Reich (Neal McDonough) - He would need a commanding name, something like Neal...... I'd go with Nelson Reich.
Private Toffler (Jeremey Davies) - Lawrence Toffler...
Major Knox (Stephen Spinella ) - Oh yeah, Jud Knox, LOL.. sorry, sorry. Harrison Knox, I like that actually.
Private Cleaves (David Arquette) - Shawn Cleaves, but for personal reasons. He reminds me of my friend Shawn who happens to be the gentleman who hooked me on this film.
General Slauson (John Spencer) - Calvin Slauson. I don't know why......

John is generic for the standard 'I'm a protagonist with big moral issues and no outstanding quirks to assign a name to' character. Although Boyd may have few quirks, at least he has a personality -- I'm sure they could have come up with something better for him.
I remember something about an 'F.W. Colqhoun, Servant of God' so I'd go with Frederick William Colqhoun, although I like Jeremiah Ives, as well -- hell, I just like the last name: Colqhoun. You can't say it without an accent. Whee!

Private Reich (Neal McDonough) - I went with Eric, personally, after fiddling with such as William, James, etc etc -- all standard -- it's just suitably 'Leif Erikson'y, ya know?
Private Toffler (Jeremey Davies) - Hmm... David, maybe, too - it would have to be quasi-religious.
Major Knox (Stephen Spinella ) - I like Jud, personally -- *grins* But Harrison works. What about Warren? *giggles*
Private Cleaves (David Arquette) - Benjamin? oo - oo...Billy! *smiles proudly to herself in a Toffler-esque manner* I think it'd work...
General Slauson (John Spencer) - Calvin Slauson. I'm in total agreement, I wouldn't have come up with it on my own, but the name just reeks of self-centered ignorance. In the nicest way possible, of course.
