The World is not Enough was produced by Eon productions in 1999. By now Brosnan is comfortable with his role as Bond, and wants to make this one of the best Bonds yet. Brosnan said he is happy that Electra King's character is such a strong woman. He also said that he likes that the plot is well developed, and that the movie isn't as dependent on thrills. (Although it still has a lot of those.) If Brosnan gets his way, the next movie (set for Christmas release 2002) would take a "drastic turn" from previous Bond films; sacrificing even more action for a richer, developed plot.
In this movie, Electra King was kidnapped by Reynard, and her mind was warped. MI6 failed to save her, and she fell in love with Reynard. Now, she wants revenge on M. She decides to wait until the right moment, when she will destroy the northern oil pipelines of the Russians, thus making her oil pipeline the only game in town.
MY GRADE: A This movie continues the standard feel of the previous two Brosnan movies. The plot was good, and it did have plenty of action. I also liked the new character of R, but that is a little tainted by the fact that there will be no more Bond movies with Desmond Llewelyn as Q. I hope they do not recast the role, but rather, just use R or some other character to give Bond his gadgets.
BEST MOMENT: The "Q" scene is this movie is one of the best in any of the Bonds. R makes a nice edition to the scene, and we really see the admiration that Bond has for Q in this scene. It was a very classy, nice way to end the Q legacy. (Even if it wasn't planned.)
ALSO NOTICEABLE: *The boat chase scene is very well done. It had been quite a while (since Moonraker), that a Bond movie had a good boat chase scene.
DID YOU KNOW...*The title of this movie is James Bond's family motto.
