David Trottier's
The Screenwriter's Bible. This is my personal favorite.
My own copy is the most worn volume in my library. Six
books in one it contains: A Primer, a Workbook, a Format
& Style guide for spec scripts, a consultant's view
on spec scripts, a Marketing plan and a Resource guide.
Combined with Web support this is an incredible bargin.
We have a
hard time keeping this one in stock but can usually
ship within 3 to 5 weeks.

J.Michael Straczynski's
The Complete Book of Scriptwriting. This is another
well worn member of my library. The writer/producer
of Murder, She Wrote and creator of Babylon
5 (with an astounding 5 year story arc) tells
you how it really is in various forms of dramatic
media: Television, Film, Animation, Radio and Stage.
He shows
you the importance of distinguishing yourself through
professionalism and discipline and how to strengthen
your writing technique while urging you to bring
your own vision to your work, avoid formula, and
create from passion. |
Jurgen Wolff's
Successfull Sitcom Writing. This is a highly recomeded
book for anyone with an intrest in writing for Television
sitcoms. I found this invaluable when writing my
submission for the Disney. The powers that be over
at Disney recommended it to me and I was glad they
did. It includes a full-length sample script for
Frasier, A sample outline for Mad About You, interviews
from many industry experts and indepth analyses
of the funniest shows of the last several years

Martin
Roth's The
Writer's Partner for Fiction, Television,&
Screen. Here is a book that
has pulled my butt out of the fire
a few time. I am on my second copy
of this book because I used the
first one so often it finally fell
apart on me. It gives that special
high octane boost to those brain
storming sessions in the early stages
of story development. The nice thing
is: With this partner you don't
have to share a writing credit.
