A Summertime Horror Story (1993)

.

The Story:

Considered to be one of Scott's best films (and clocking in at a brisk 49 minutes), this fast-paced mystery is centered at the Bancroft family home, who put the accent on dysfunction. When a missing girl is believed to be last seen at the Bancroft home, a setting for murder and mystery is created. When the neighbor disappears as well, the family starts to be ripped apart by mistrust and fear. Only a few will survive!

Behind the scenes:

"Everyone I know of that has seen this has liked it." Scott remarks of this film. Originally conceived as a Christmastime film (titled "A Christmas Time Horror Story"), the film was postponed until the following summer, hence the title change. "I'm happy with the film, but I hated playing the retarted son Reginald. I'd like for someone to count how many times that retard says 'I'm Special!' during his appearances in the film."
