Midnight Melinda (2011)Scott's first film of 2011 is a throwback to those grimy low-budget films of the 1970's. Let's take the time to meet former porn star Cash Hungerford, who has retired from a 20-year career and is living on his own, raising money by the way of frequent orgies with various women and friends (including town gynecologist Dr. Elden, and another retired porn star named "Zorro") to build his dream home. His perverse life style is interrupted by the arrival of his new neighbor Melinda, and she proceeds to creep out Cash by watching him every night from her yard. It gets even creepier when Cash discovers that Melinda is a 200-year-old vampire who lives off the orgasmic energy generated by people during sex. Finding out that she leaves the guys and girls sexless, Cash and his buddies decide something has to be done to stop her.

Behind The Scenes
Filmed in April of 2011, "Midnight Melinda" was something different for Scott, but he was up for the challenge. "I came up with this idea, and it was something I thought would be worth a shot. I spent a long time revising the script, and for the most part it turned out the way I wanted to. The weather wasn't too cooperative, so the scene where Cash lures Melinda into a trap was re-wrote to where it took place indoors instead of out. I had also wanted Leonard Miller (who appeared in a few of Scott's other films) to play a virginal home designer, but his job schedule wasn't meshing with mine. I asked a lady to take his place, and she backed out as well. I pretty much cut the role out and came up with the one of a realtor named Bob, who I asked my old college friend Steve Bassett to play, and he was great in his first, albeit brief, appearance in one of my films. The cast did admirably, and I was happy with the end results." |
