Dear Dead Rachel (1994)

The Story:

Clayton Lamphere (Scott) recounts the horrors which have destroyed his family and life over the past week. Coming home one day from work, he finds his daughter Rachel dead under the family minivan, strangled with barbed wire and nude. The detective on the case, Byron Sondergaard (Tim Arthur) tells Clayton later on that forensic evidence shows that Rachel had sex just before her murder. With the help of his cousin James, and his Uncle Spencer, Clayton starts to try and find out the truth behind his daughter's murder. However, there is a shocking twist which may cost everyone involved their lives as well.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Scott's first film of 1994 was an odd foray into the "erotic thriller" genre, with some bizarre twists into the story.
"I feel that some of the scenes I shot for this film were the best I ever done, still to this day." recalls Scott of the production. "Does the film work overall? For the most part, if one doesn't think about it too deep and just takes it as face value. It had a small audience get to see it in 1994, mainly local showings right after we made it, I guess Tim got some people to see it unbeknownst to me. I had a woman come up to me one day and say "Hello, Clayton!" I didn't know what the hell she was talking about. Then it was 'Oh, she saw my movie..'!"
