Trekker's Mystery (1993)

The Story:

Set in 2271, "Trekker's Mystery" is a fusion of the sci-fi and mystery genres. Cmdr. Riker and Chief O'Brien fly off to Bajor to pick up rebellious Wesley Crusher and Dr. Clint Stewart, a warp drive expert. Not long thereafter, an ensign is murdered, leading Riker to believe that Wesley is the killer. However, an alien race known as the Neonians show up and their arrival signifies a new twist in the proceedings.

Behind the Scenes:

Scott's last Star Trek film for 6 years (until 1999's "Melissa Gone At Night"), Scott felt that Trekker's Mystery was overall a disappointment. "I like parts of the film, but it could have used some work. However, the film did have its good points, such as the crazy transporter effects and the ad-libbed scene that Tim got the idea for, where Riker and O'Brien decide to kill some time playing 'Dungeons & Dragons'. The camera was being run for some of that scene by Tim's sister Shira Arthur, who was in front of the camera in "Elmer Jones" and "Blood Puzzle", and that was her last time she did some film work for us."
