This is one of the finest kits to come out in a long time. With one minor exception (the 5 piece canopy) it was a pleasure to build.

Out of the box it will produce a beautiful model. I chose to drop the flaps and slats, reposition the flight control surfaces, super detail the cockpit (which is already outstanding) and add a resin Daimler-Benz DB 603 engine.

The Teknics resin engine is a model in itself, comprising over 70 resin and photo etch parts. I spent at least 20 hours on the engine alone but it is really the focal point of the model. It is complete down the familiar Benz emblem on the front of the engine! My only complaint was the lack of engine mounts. They had to be scratch built, each comprised of 12 pieces if styrene!

The kit was finished with Model Master enamels and kit decals. The fuselage crosses were slightly out of register so I used a pair from the spares box.
