Chapter Nine: Calling A Truce and Remembering the Past

Lately Nick had been thinking about Bailey more and more each day. He missed her. He missed kissing her, holding her, waking up beside her, but most of all loving her. He still couldn't figure out why he didn't go after her. It must have been the shock her finding out.

-flashback-

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!" Bailey screamed

"Hunny what are you talking about?"

"Oh Nick don't play stupid with me! You know what I'm talking about!" She shouted.

"Bailey I promise you I don't know what your talking about!"

Bailey laughed bitterly. "I got a phone call from a girl."

"Oh."

"Yeah oh." She paused. "Hi Sweetie can you give Nicky a message for me? Could you tell him I enjoyed our time together last week?" Bailey imitated the woman who calle! d.

"Bailey..." Nick tried to explain but she stopped him.

"No Nick! I trusted you. If this has happened before it could happen again. I can't set myself up for that that. You have no idea how much it hurt when I talked to that woman. I just can't believe it. I thought this, us would last forever. I guess I was wrong." She then made her way up the stairs to pack leaving Nick standing there is shock.

-end flashback-

It hurt to think about what happened. He tried to block it but found it hard since he was still in love with her. His mind then shifted yet again to Mac more and more. He just wanted their friendship back but couldn't figure out how. He didn't know what to say. Turning the TV off he decided he would give it a try and whatever came out came out.

"Mackenzie!" Nick called upstairs. "Can you come down here?" He heard a muffled 'sure' and she made her way downstairs.

"What's up?" She knew it had to be something big because Nick hasn't been talking to her much lately. Brian had gone out for the day with this new girl he had met the other day and that left Mac alone in her room and Nick downstairs watching TV.

"Uh could we talk?" He asked.

Mac rased an eyebrow. "Sure..."

"Alright sit down." Mac did as she was told and Nick sat next to her.

"Look I know this has been hard for the both of us and that you don't want to be here-" Nick paused. "but I really think we should call a truce. The fact is I want our friendship back. You have no idea how much I have missed you. I just wanted to know where you were. It! killed me when you left without telling me. What killed me even more was that you had to be pushed to tell me. You couldn't on your own. I forgave you for leaving me a long time ago I just want everything we had back."

Mac sat there for a minute trying to take everything he had just said in. "Nick I want that back as much as you do! I was just scared that you would hate me that's why I didn't tell you."

Nick smiled. "So then what now? Are we friends, enemies? What?"

"Friends!"

"Yeah Best Friends!" Nick smiles. "Come here!" Mac did what she was told and Nick grabbed her in a hug.

"I'm not gonna lose you again...I won't let it happen. I promise." Nick said while letting go of Mac. "But one other thing?"

"Anything!"

"You'll let me call you Abbey?"

She smirked. "If I get to call you Nickums?"

He held out his hand and grinned. "Deal!" He said while Mac shook it. They then hugged again.

"AHHHHHHHH! This is gonna be great!" Nick said while jumping around. Mac just laughed. He had his best friend back and life was good!
