17. July 12th - Nickel Beer Night Ken Cereola hit 2 HRs to take the league lead in HRs and give Dan Hogan the run support he needed for his 2nd win on the mound. O-Dogg started the game and allowed only 1 run. Pitching on one day's rest he was relieved by John in the 4th. John gave up the 2 HRs to Ken as well as one to Matt (who homered for both teams). Hogan carried a shutout into the 7th when his brother hit a two-run shot off of him. John McVey continues to struggle. 7-2 Final: Hogan, Ken, Matt W-Hogan(2-3) L-O-Dogg(4-3) HR-Ken 2(18), Matt 2(3)
16. June 28th - Out of Retirement Ken Cereola started the game after winning in relief in the previous game. Dave LaGala provided the offense against Ken with his streaking HR-hitting bat. With a 4-2 lead Ken Cereola faced Dave in the 7th. Dave homered to bring his team within one. Ken then K'd Hogan to end the game. Dave pitched well in defeat but fell to 1-5. Ken earned his 6th win. Final 4-3: Ken, John, Mikey W-Ken(6-1) L-Dave(1-5) HR- Dave(12), O-Dogg(7), Ken(16)
15. June 18th - Feeling Froggy Mike McVey vs. O-Dogg. Mikey was solid in the first few innings but lost control as Dave helped his team batter Mike enough to have Ken come in for relief. O-Dogg was dominant until late in the game when he surround 2 HRs each to Ken and John. Ken's team battled back to win and earn Ken his first win since announcing his retirement from pitching at MP. Mikey get a no-decision. Final 7-6: Ken, John, Mikey W-Ken(5-1) L-O-Dogg(4-2) HR- Dave(11), John 2(17), Ken 2(15)
14. June 21st - This is this. The classic matchup with the classic veterans with their gas tanks on E faced off in the middle game of this series. Ken Cereola who has won every start prior to this matched 0's with John early on. Dave hit a solo shot off John to jump in front. In the 4th, Hogan hit a 3-run homer to bring John in the lead. 3-1 the score John lost his lead when Dave hit a 3-run HR, O-Dogg added one with a solo shot. The next inning John hit a 2-run shot to bring himself back in front. Hogan followed with his 2nd HR. 8-4 going into the 7th, John made it interesting by allowing a HR to Dave and a runner to score from 3rd. Ken K'd and Dave popped out to end the game. 8-6 Final: John, Hogan, Mikey W-John(3-2) L-Ken(4-1) HR- Dave 2(10), Hogan 2(7), John 2(15), O-Dogg(6)
13. June 21st - Gave you Extra Cheese. Dave fired out of the gate K'ing batter after batter on this beautiful day at MP. Hogan was not so lucky as he gave up a grandslam to Dave in the 3rd inning. Dave never looked back as his dominance on the mound earned him his first win. Hogan fell to 1-4 when he left after 3 and was relieved by Mikey. Mike wasw solid until the 5th when he surrenedered a gavone grandslam to Ken Cereola. Hogan and John homerred in defeat. 9-3 Final: Ken, LaGala, O-Dogg W-Dave(1-4) L-Hogan(1-3) HR-Dave(8), Ken(13), Hogan 2(5), John(13)
12. June 13th - The Cat's Meow. The Dogg and the Cat came face to face on the hill for the finale of the series. John struggled early allowing 5 runs on seeing-eye basehits. Dave, Hindy, and O-Dogg scrapped out 9 runs total against an emotionally unstable John McVey. In 6th inning, John struck out against O-Dogg and conducted a tirade that rivaled Lou Pinella. John was pulled off the mound and relieved by Ken, who was relieved by Hogan. The damage was done, and O-Dogg grabs 2 decisions in the series. 9-3 Final: O-Dogg, LaGala, Hindy W-O-Dogg(4-1) L-John(2-2) HR-O-Dogg(5), Dave(7), Ken(12)
11. June 13th - Get back to third. John, Ken, and Hogan each had an RBI to give Ken his 4th win of the season. Dave, who has yet to win on the mound allow 2 HRs, one each to John and Ken. In the 9th inning, Ken was in danger of losing as the home team mounted a comeback started by and O-Dogg single. John came in to relieve Ken but managed to load the bases. With one out and a run already walked in, John struck out Hindy to end the game and grab his first save. 3-2 Final: Ken, John, Hogan W-Ken(4-0) L-Dave(0-4) S-John(1) HR-John(12), Ken(11)
10. June 8th - Launch Pad. Hogan and Dogg pitched a late start on Tuesday. Dogg struggled early and allowed 5 runs in the 3rd inning giving Hogan a comfortable lead on the mound. He could not hold it however as he allowed HRs to O-Dogg and Dave to bring O-Dogg back in the game. Hindy came to bat with his team down by 1 and one out. He smashed a towering fly ball over the house for a 3-run HR. Dogg held his lead collecting his 3rd win of the season and tying Ken for the league lead. Dave LaGala homered twice. 9-5 Final: O-Dogg, LaGala, Hindy W-O-Dogg(3-1) L-Hogan(1-2) HR-O-Dogg(4), Dave 2(6), Hindy(1)
9. May 31st - Rain Drops Keep Fallin' on my Head. A classic battle at MP to finish the series. Kelly pitched his first game at MP looking to sweep. Ken pitched in pain but was still effective, allowing only a 2-run shot to John late in the game. With a 2-0 lead, Mike Kelly took the mound in the bottom of the 7th. Ken singled along with Mikey to start the inning. Kelly lost control. He walked in 2 runs to tie the game, then faced Ken with the bases loaded and the game on the line. He walked Ken who won his league leading 3rd of the season as well as provided Dave LaGala with his first win in 2004 at MP. 8. May 31st - Back-to-Back-to-Back. A wild one at MP. As rain began to fall, John took the mound against Ritacco. An overly confident John, who was throwing a great game, began to heckle his brother Mike before delivering his pitch. Mike then homered to center, a shot that could be the hardest hit all year. John then gave up successive HRs to Russo and Dave. The following inning, John's team responded with their own back-to-back-to-back HR display. O-Dogg led off the inning with a solo blast, then the Hogan brothers followed. Kelly singled, then John came up to hit his 10th of the year for the go-ahead runs. They didnt look back as John took his lead in HRs as well as his 2nd win on the mound. 7-5 Final: John, O-Dogg, Hogan, Matt, Kelly W-John(2-1) L-Ritacco(1-2) HR-Hogan(3), O-Dogg(3), Matt(1), John(10), Ken 2(10), Russo(1), Mikey(1), Dave(4)
7. May 31st - He Loves it. The first game of a triple-header started with Dogg vs. Dave. The chilly morning gave way to an extraordinary start for James Owens on the hill. He carried a perfect game into the 6th K'ing almost every batter he faced. Dave LaGala ended it all when he hit a solo shot to center, however a disappointed James held on to notch his second victory of the season. John McVey provided some run-support with his 9th homer of the year. 3-1 Final: John, O-Dogg, Hogan, Matt, Kelly W-O-Dogg(2-1) L-Dave(0-3) HR-Dave(3), John(9)
6. May 24th - One more word and you're outta here... John stepped onto the mound and followed in his teamate's footsteps as he took a no-hitter into the sixth. John was dominating on the mound (7K's) inducing countless pop-ups near home plate, jamming the right handed hitters. O-Dogg admittingly did not have his usual stuff this week. Already pitching on Sat. in another league, Dogg surrendered hit after hit in which Ken Cereola was responsible for all 4 RBI. After Dave LaGala broke up John's no-hitter, Dan Hogan hit a pop-up that Kenny C. charged from short and leaped over the bleachers diving into the bushes for an incredible catch. Ken Cereola has swept 2 straight series. 4-0 Final: Ken, John, Ritacco W-John(1-1) L-O-Dogg(1-1) HR- Ken(8)
5. May 23rd - A Game of Inchworms. Hogan and Ritacco met again, this time Hogan was not so lucky. Ritacco kept his team in the game allowing only Dave LaGala to go yard. John continued his tear on Dan Hogan hitting 4 HRs, 2 grandslams. With 11 RBI in the game John and Ken(2HRs) helped Ritacco earn his first win at MP. The feeling of summer crept through the clouds as the field began to heat up, and the 2004 season has come into full swing. 14-7 Final: Ken, John, Ritacco W-Ritacco(1-1) L-Hogan(1-1) HR- Ken 3(7), John 4(8), Dave (2)
4. May 23rd - Valid Effort In the wake of Randy Johnson's perfect game last week and Tom Glavine's no-hit bid Sunday, Ken Cereola took some of that on the mound on this overcast day at MP. Ken dominated early on, with his arm throbbing with pain. His team did damage against LaGala in the early innings. A HR by Ken and John gave Ken the support he needed on the mound. In the 6th inning, Hogan stepped in to lead off. He popped up to center where John McVey dropped the ball ending the bid for the perfecto. In the bottom of the 7th, no-hitter still in tact O-Dogg ripped a single to short. Ken still overpowering earned the win even though he fell short of a perfect game. 7-0 Final: Ken, John, Ritacco W-Ken(2-0) L-Dave(0-2) HR- Ken(4), John (4)
3. May 18th - Kittens and Cats. Pig, Grey street, and Black Mamba made it, Russo and Kelly did not. Hogan and Ritacco pitched in opposition on the third game of the season. The overcast sky called for rain, but that didnt stop John who hit 3 solo HRs off Hogan, his team's only runs. O-Dogg hit a 2-run HR to bring his team ahead. John hit his HRs in the 1st, 4th, and 6th. In the top of the 7th leading 3-2 Ritacco pitched to Dan Hogan who popped out to LaGala. With one out and one on Ken Cereola blasted a 2-run shot to center for the go-ahead. The rain began to fall at MP. After allowing Dave and Ritacco to reach base, Hogan was pulled and O-Dogg came in to close out the game and finalize the sweep. 4-3 Final: Ken, O-Dogg, Hogan W-Hogan(1-0) L-Ritacco(0-1) S-O-Dogg(1) HR- John 3(3), O-Dogg(2), Ken(3)
2. May 17th - Fair or Foul? O-Dogg made his 2004 debut on the hill and launched a solo HR off John. Hogan followed with a solo job of his own. The score was 2-0 when Dave LaGala hit a rainmaker down the line that curved foul, could have tied the game. John pitched well, kept his team in the game but they could not touch O-Dogg (11Ks). Hogan came up again in the 5th and hit another solo HR, Ken followed him with his 2nd of the season. Dogg closed out the game for his first win of the season. 4-0 Final: Ken, O-Dogg, Hogan W-O-Dogg(1-0) L-John(0-1) HR- O-Dogg(1), Ken(2), Hogan 2(2)
1. May 17th - And We are underway... On this beautiful day in May MP opened its 2004 season with Ken Cereola facing Dave LaGala on the mound, a rematch of the decisive 2003 World Series Game 5. These boys came out guns blazing to open the season. Dave helped himself with a 2-run blast to compensate for his wild first inning resulting in 2 walked-in runs. This game was tight until Hogan broke it with a single scoring O-Dogg. The big inning continued with Ken, who faked a bunt with John playing a deep shortstop then stroked a grand slam homerun to give himself a 6-run lead and a win. Dave pitched well striking out 10, Ken 9. 8-2 Final: Ken, O-Dogg, Hogan W-Ken(1-0) L-Dave(0-1) HR- Dave(1), Ken(1)
