HISTORY OF THE HART FOUNDATION Vol. 2 (EX-FAIR Q) 4.5HRS
As said earlier, this and the next several tapes is a comprehensive history of the 1997 Hart Foundation up until their
Abrupt and unexpected end at the Survivor Series. You'll also see many matches by the now deceased Brian
Pillman & Owen Hart, as well as most matches that contained members of the Hart Foundation, or matches where
they may not Have been participants, but got involved in one way or another. Enjoy!

TREMENDOUSLY cheered everywhere else -RAW 3/31/97 TV)

couldn't move! Owen & the Ref had to stall for time until Austin could move enough to quickly end the match.
I don't know how true this next part is, but I understood that Austin never forgave Hart for that mistake which
very nearly Ended his career. As it is, Austin would not be able to wrestle again for several months.
35. Bret Hart v. Undertaker (The Hitman wins his 5th WWF World Title!)

HISTORY OF THE HART FOUNDATION vol. 5 (VG Q) 5HRS
NOTE: by this point in the Hart Foundation saga, Brian Pillman was basically split from the Foundation to
work a feud with Goldust. Pillman was never actually acknowledged as an "official" member of the Hart
Foundation, but worked with them up until his feud with Goldust. I included many of Pillman's matches in
this series of tapes, because for one, Pillman was involved in most of the Hart Foundation's angles, and second,
Pillman died midway during his feud with Goldust, and it would've been wrong to not include his contribution
to the story. So in addition to the Hart Foundation, you get a last glimpse of the "Loose Cannon" as well.

2. Confrontation - Brian Pillman/Sgt. Slaughter (Pillman doesn't want to wear that dress as per the stipulation for

15. Daveyboy Smith v. Rocky Maivia (After the match, the Nation and the Hart Foundation brawl. Rocky is a heel
here, having recently joined the Nation. He hasn't yet become the ROCK we all know and love yet, but he was
always an EXCELLENT worker - RAW 10/6/97)

17. Owen Hart v. Road Warrior Hawk (RAW 10/6/97)
18. INT - Melanie Pillman one night after the death of her husband Brian Pillman. In my opinion, this was a very
inconsiderate act on the part of Vince McMahon. I was surprised that Melanie consented to the interview, but
she did, and Vince used her to gain a few extra ratings points. RAW 10/6/97

22. INT - Bret Hart/HHH&HBK -(RAW 10/13/97) The feud begins to gain some steam. Shawn Michaels
OFFICIALLY calls his faction Degeneration X for the first time. The Nation of Domination comes out next,
      leading to…

The Nation, still at ringside eventually brawl with the Hart Foundation. (RAW 10/13/97)
24. INT - Farooq & the Nation of Domination (RAW 10/20/97)
25. Bret Hart v. Farooq (RAW 10/20/97)
The WWF decided to make racism the motivation behind the feud between The Hart Foundation & The Nation.
I believe that this was a very tasteless angle. Racism is a REAL thing. And because it's something that STILL
exists in many overt AND covert forms in our society, (despite what a lot of people may want to believe), there
is in my opinion no funny or tasteful way to exploit it. From what I understand, The Nation and the Hart
Foundation were also against this angle, but there wasn't much they could do about it.
26. Owen Hart v. Shawn Michaels (GREAT MATCH! No finish though, as Austin runs in and beats up the ref and
Bret comes out and beats up Michaels. DX comes out to make the save - RAW 10/20/97)
27. INT - Nation of Domination/Hart Foundation/DX (RAW 10/20/97)
The WWF continues to push its racism angle. This angle ranks right up there with crucifying people on the
Undertaker's cross (and no, I won't refer to it as a "symbol". Before the controversy blew up, The WWF
THEMSELVES referred to it as a cross) as the most tasteless angles that McMahon and the WWF have ever
come up with. Sorry about getting up on the soap box back there, but I have personally experience racism first hand
in one form or another. So have my parents, grandparents, brothers and most of my friends. I can't find
one decent thing that was accomplished by this angle.

29. Bret Hart v. Ken Shamrock (RAW 10/27/97)
30. INT - Bret Hart (RAW 10/27/97)
31. INT - Degeneration X (Shawn Michaels MOONS the TV audience. As this was at the HEIGHT of Michaels'
arrogance when he was trying to get out of his WWF contract and go to WCW with his friends, Kevin Nash &
Scott Hall, I wouldn't have a problem believing that this wasn't the scripted segment.RAW 10/27/97)

40. Owen Hart v. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (Since having to relenquish the Inter-continental title, Austin has
done everything possible to make sure that Owen would not only regain the title, but to also HOLD
ONTO the title. Austin repeatedly got Owen's opponents disaualified thus allowing Owen to keep the
IC Title. All this, so Austin could get his revenge for Owen breaking Austin's neck at Summer Slam,
and win the Title for himself.)
41. Bret Hart v. Shawn Michaels (Without a doubt one of the most INFAMOUS matches in the History of the
sport. Bret & Shawn, who had LEGIT heat with each other squared off in what turned out to be Bret
Hart's LAST match in the WWF. This was a GREAT MATCH, but this match will not be known for it's
work rate. The match was scheduled to end with a DQ run in by the Hart Foundation. However, Vince
McMahon, afraid that Bret (who was to go to WCW) would show up on Nitro with the WWF championship
belt around his waist, decided to change the script. Vince, unbeknownst to Bret Hart, ordered the referee
to stop the match the instant that Shawn Michaels locked Bret Hart in the Sharpshooter.
The result was the BIGGEST SCREW JOB IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT!
      BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
42. BACK STAGE FOOTAGE before the Survivor Series where Bret talked with various officials about the finish
of the upcoming match, and how it was ORIGINALLY supposed to end. Listen in on the conversation that Bret
had with VINCE MCMAHON HIMSELF, as Vince promises Bret that he can have the DQ finish as requested.
(Bret had planned to surrender the title the following night on RAW).

43. THE AFTERMATH - See what happens after the match, as Bret confronts Shawn in the locker room about his
involvement in the screwjob ending, and whether Shawn was in on the whole thing. You will even see Bret's
wife confront the rest of DX about what happened. You will also see and hear from Bret immediately after he
KNOCKED VINCE MCMAHON OUT COLD for doing what he did.
(Bret Hart - Wrestling with Shadows documentary)
44. INTERVIEW WITH VINCE MCMAHON - Vince answers questions on what really happened, and whether or
not he really screwed Bret Hart. Vince claims his innocence without denying that he changed the finish of
the match without telling Bret. Vince also claims that he didn't screw Bret Hart, but that "Bret Hart screwed
Bret Hart". (Bret Hart - Wrestling with Shadows documentary)
45. FINAL THOUGHTS FROM THE HITMAN - Bret Hart closes the series with his thoughts of how this whole
thing came to an end. (Bret Hart - Wrestling with Shadows documentary)
As a result of this unexpected turn of events, several wrestlers refused to show up for RAW the following night in
protest of what happened at the Survivor Series. Among a few others, Davyboy Smith & Jim Neidhart quit the WWF,
to follow Bret to WCW. Neither of them did anything of notice down there, and have since been rehired by the WWF.
Of the entire Hart Foundation, only Owen Hart remained in the WWF. Unfortunately, his career stagnated as well, as
he couldn't get the crowd behind his character. It was only after Owen once again became the BLUE BLAZER, that
he began to see some progress. Tragically, Owen died in a mishap during his entrance as the Blazer for a match
where he would have won the Intercontinental Title from the Godfather. The individual members of the Hart
Foundation gave so much to the WWF and the sport in general, that it's truly a shame that the History of the Hart
Foundation ended the way that it did. They deserved much better than they received.
