Alexa's First Day

Since I don't have any knowledge that could be of use to the SGC I gave the story a different spin. I hope it makes sense :p

"Wow, this is weird," I mumbled.

Just a few minutes ago I had been seated at my friend Skippy's table as she performed some sort of magic trick. I wasn't much for all that 'hocus pocus' stuff, but now, I was seriously wondering if magic was real.

I stood in a long hallway, in what appeared to be what? - an underground base?

"Are you alright private?"

I turned around and found myself face to face with a tall, grey haired man.

"Umm I....I..private?"

His eyes bore into me, suspicious and alert "Yes. That's what your tag says, Private Jackson."

I looked down at myself, more confused than ever. When did I have the time to change into army fatigues? And why did the man in front of me looked familiar? He was giving me a strange look, I had to say something.

"Oh. I...yes, I'm private Jackson, sir!" I saluted him, but judging by the look on his face it left much to be desired.

"Are you sure you're alright? You look a bit pale. Maybe you should head to the infirmary."

"I'm fine sir. I was just on my way," I stopped, damm, where was I going? I didn't know this place!!

"On your way where, private?" he was growing impatient.

"To... to the washroom." I smiled at my clever answer.

"There are no washrooms on this floor."

"Well, of course not sir. I was just heading there."

"The elevators are that way," he said pointing in the opposite direction.

"I know that," he raised an eyebrow at me. "Sir," I added as an afterthought.

"Something fishy is going on. You're coming with me." He grabbed my arm and started to pull me down the hall.

"NO. Wait. I.." He stopped.

"Listen to me private. You're acting very suspicious. You either tell me what's going on or I'll have you locked up until you talk."

Tell him the truth? That was a joke! Like he would believe me when I said that my friend's 'magic' had brought me here - fat chance.

"Hey Jack, what's wrong?"

We both turned around. And I could do nothing more than stare at the handsome, blue eyed young man coming our way. He was closely followed by a medium height woman. Wait a second, they both looked familiar.

"It appears that this young woman here," said the grey haired man without letting go of my arm, "has no clue of who she is and where she's going."

The woman spoke then, a soft accent on her voice "Oh. It's alright colonel. I know her. She,umm, she was supposed to come see me. Weren't you?"

My eyes rounded in question, but I was not about to pass up the opportunity to get out of the colonel's grasp.

"Yes. Yes I was. Sorry, I got lost."

"Why didn't you just tell me you were looking for her?" asked the colonel, his brown eyes still suspicious.

"I was, I was embarrassed, because I forgot sir."

He released me and I quickly moved away and closer to the nice lady who had helped me. I smiled up at her, gratitude shining from my eyes, but now that I was closer to her, and I got a better look at her face, I realized who she was.

"Oh my god. It's you. You're one of the ladies that gave me a tour of the Gutter room! I left early that day. Hey, what about my clones? I never did get mine you know!"

Her hand clamped around my mouth. She gave both men an apologetic smile.

"Gutter room?" asked the blue eyed one with a small smile on his lips.

"Long story. It's an inside joke," she replied, but the colonel didn't seem convinced.

"If you'll excuse me gentleman, I have some matters to discuss with private Jackson." She took her hand off my mouth, the look in her eyes warned me not to say another word. "Come along private."

I smiled at the two men and hurried after her. "Funny, running into you here" I said as the doors to the elevators closed, she pressed a button and it started to move.

She turned towards me "The question is,how did you get here?" she asked. She continued before I could answer. "Newbies are not allowed here. You have to be trained first."

"Trained? Newbie?" Now I was more confused than before.

She groaned in frustration "You're in for a crash course on SGC survival dear."

"Hey, where's that GutterSun I keep hearing about? I could sure use a tan!" I grinned up at her.

She groaned again "I have a looong day ahead of me," she mumbled as the elevator continued it's journey.

The End
