Mississippi FFA State Convention
The Franklin County FFA was well represented at the Mississippi FFA State Convention. Those in attendance were Samantha Zeigler, Nathan Steele, Steve Lofton, Michael Lynn Tynes, Kristin Holland, Kayla Holland, Brian Monroe, Melissa Monroe, Brandon Halford, John Kelly, Katrina Wallace, and Jolynne Laird. Steve Lofton was named as the South District Star Agribusinessman, as well as 1st place in Agriculture Mechanics Proficiency. John Kelly, who was serving as the State FFA Treasurer, placed first in the Turf and Landscape Proficiency as well as 3rd place Beef Production. Franklin FFA had three senior FFA members to receive their State FFA Degree; they were Steve Lofton, Nathan Steele, and Melissa Monroe. Franklin Junior FFA had one member receiving their Junior FFA Degree; it was Kayla Holland. Brandon Halford won 2nd place in the Junior Creed Speaking Competition. The senior delegates were Michael Lynn Tynes and Melissa Monroe. The junior delegates were Kayla Holland and Kristin Holland.
Concepts of Agriculture to be added to curiculum at Franklin County Vocational Center!
Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, Bobby Kelly has been attending classes throughout the summer to be prepared to take on the class Concepts of Agriculture. This class is one of only eight pilot sites in the state of Mississippi. Franklin High School students will definately be above the rest come this fall!
