LETTER FROM HOME
DOWN HERE ON THE FARM
© 1999 by Dorothy Marie Manley
Dear Brother, We miss you.
Sure wish you were here.
Hope you are doing well,
And have a real good year.
Down here on the farm, things are okay.
We've got food to eat, and the barn's full of hay.
The cows all died, with a terrible disease
The dogs and the cats are covered with fleas.
The horses jumped the fence, and left on the run.
The fox got the chickens, 'cause Pa lost his gun.
We have a few eggs left, but they don't look just right.
They don't have no yellow, there's nothing but white.
Your old girlfriend got married.
She's got eight or ten kids.
You better be glad you left when you did.
Other than all that, everything's fine,
Down here on the farm, that you left behind.
Love,
Your Sister...Anna Marie
