THE RARE AND SPECIAL FISH
I wrote the first part of the following story and sent it to my dear friend Mo. The story was my way of explaining, the reasons I believed my romance had ended. Well to my suprise, in the next e-mail I got
from Mo, I found that he had written an ending to
the story. I wanted to share the story and I do hope you enjoy it.

Once there was a young fisherman who had spent many years, trying to catch a rare and special fish that had not been caught before. He had gotten several strikes, unable to be sure if they were from the rare and special fish he had been seaching so long to find. One day he was fishing, and although he had almost given up on catching that special fish, he still gave it a try now and then. Well to his surprise that day he managed to catch a rare and special fish. He was a bit disappointed with it's
condition, it had a bit of wear and tear, and he could tell it had been caught several
times, but had somehow managed to make it's way back to the sea. He thought it over and decided he was so tired of trying, not sure if he would ever be lucky enough to catch a rare and special fish in excellent condition, he would just settle for this one. So he took it home and for awhile he was contented or at least tried to be. After a year or so had gone by and the rare and special fish had grown accustomed to it's new home and felt very happy there, the young man's desire to have a rare and special fish that had never been caught before returned. Having had a couple of nibbles he decided if he tried a few more times, he might get a strike and he could not resist the temptation. The young man showed no compassion for the fish he had kept so long. The poor fish who had tried so long and hard to please him and be the best rare and perfect fish it could be, was just tossed on the bank and left to die instead of being gently released back into the sea. However, being the rare and special fish that it was, fate allowed it to make it's way back to the sea once again. Back to it's home and family, the fish made a wish that it would never be caught again by the cruel and uncaring fisherman who were always lurking on the banks.
The young man continued his attempts to catch the rare and special fish, one that had never been caught before. Will he ever be lucky enough to catch it?
Who knows? But either way, many times his mind will return to the poor fish he threw away, the one who tried so hard to please him. Many times he will
wish that he had kept that fish, even though he was not the first one to catch it, he
knew in his heart that it was indeed a rare and special fish, but his foolish pride
and his desire to find a better one, had caused him to throw the poor fish away.
He would often wonder if that fish had made it back to the sea, if so, he knew never again would he be able to catch it, He knew it would take a rare and special
man to ever be able to catch the rare and special fish he had so carelessly tossed away.

The fisherman found something very precious, I'm sure that's what he was looking for in the first place. I think his soul was satisfied but his lust
wasn't and he wanted a fish that had never had been caught before. However for all his longing one day he did actually get hold of this fish. This fish
had never been caught before and for a while he was very happy at his achievement and so was the fish with it's new owner, the fish marveled at the man who had managed to catch her...But Alas..this was only a prelude to the twist that fate was to bring. Soon the fish got bored with her keeper and yearned to be back in the open sea....she started thinking, well maybe this fisherman is not worthy of her and she should some how escape and try to be caught in a precious fisherman's net...who has not yet caught a precious fish. So she told her keeper of her desire to return to the open seas, he was distraught !! he begged and pleaded, told her she was not
thinking straight and it was he that she really wanted to be with but the
fish wouldn't have it...she made a deal with him. She would return to the sea and he would come every day and dangle his hook, if he felt a tug at it
she was back if not she was not meant for him.
The poor fisherman had to agree or lose her completely....Every day at the crack of dawn, he'd take his rod and go to the sea, but
alas, he never felt the tug he yearned and desired...it was now that a story
that had happened many, many years ago came to him, when he had tossed away that
wonderful fish, who had tried so hard to be everything he had wanted her to
be, but he just wanted more...Oh how he wished he could have her back now...but it was too late, for another fisherman who was kind and considerate had caught the rare and special fish and he would not swap her for anything. She had found someone deserving of her and was very happy and contented...Now the fisherman realized that time had come 360 degrees.
